Elder Holdaway entered the Missionary Training Center on Feb. 18. Michelle Makin to marry Keith and Aileen Makin of American Fork are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Michelle Jean Makin, to Matthew Loane Miller, son of Glen and Wanda Miller of Cedar City. The couple will exchange vows in the Mount Timpano-gos Timpano-gos LDS Temple on Feb. 20. A reception will honor the newlyweds that same evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LDS church, 381 S. 300 East, American Fork. Attending the bride will be Miranda Makin, Mary Elder Daniel I. Hunt, son of Devon and Debra Hunt of Pleasant Grove, has recently returned from serving in the Uruguay Montevideo LDS Mission. Elder Jerry P. and Sister Barbara Smith of Battle Creek 7th Ward, Pleasant Grove East Stake, have been called to serve in the Wisconsin Milwaukee LDS Mission for one year. They entered the Missionary Mis-sionary Training Center on Feb. 16. American Legion selects PGHS student as its state contestant Madeleine Mahoney, a senior at Pleasant Grove High School, won the American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest for District Four (Utah County) on Jan. 22. Mahoney's oration demonstrated demon-strated her college-quality maturity and scholarship. The daughter of Lynn and Pam Mahoney of Pleasant Grove, she will go on to represent Utah County Coun-ty at the American Legion Department of Utah State Contest. The state contest will take place in Salt Lake City at the VA Medical PGHS Extra Milers profiled for February By Kalyn Secretan Syd Hackford and Clark Blaisdell were recognized as Pleasant Grove High School Extra Milers for the month of February. Vice principal Chip Koop paid tribute to two outstanding out-standing Extra Milers. Syd is a Pleasant Grove High School Viking from the class of 19S1. While she was in high school she participated par-ticipated in cheerloading, Orchesis. girl's athletics and KPGK. She attended Southern Utah State College Col-lege on a cheerlcading scholarship, majoring in Sociology and a minor in History and Library Science. Sci-ence. She returned to PGHS in 1990 to teach and coach cheer. She is now in her 1 1th year of teaching and eighth year as student council advisor. The teacher will be remembered for 1,200 flags the Student Council folded to send to the troops. They folded small flags they could carry in their pocket. The class has been receiving touching notes from the soldiers. Syd will also be remembered for her involvement in the Angel Tree project and the Blood Drive. Clark Blaisdell was born and raised in Bremerton. Washington and graduated from East High School. Even though be has lived in Utah for almost 30 years, he feels he is still a native and resident of Washington. He served a mission to Germany Ger-many and returned in 1971. He went back to BYU to continue his education.
