Vikes let a big one By Todd Veenker Spo.-;s Cc'E;pc-.3'.- Pleasant Grove and Timpanogos Tim-panogos battled for their playoff lives last Friday night, and the Timber-wolves Timber-wolves came out on top with the 14-13 victory. For the Vikings, the game was a "would of-could of-should of-should of kind of a game. For the T-Wolves, they nearly near-ly witnessed their second straight region loss, but came up with the big defensive defen-sive plays when it counted. Neither team looked particularly par-ticularly effective in the first quarter as they traded punts in the first five minutes min-utes of the game, but it was turnovers that kept the game close as the Vikings gave up five to the one they got from the T-Wolves. The first Pleasant Grove turnover came midway through the quarter when Jake Schroeder fell on a Viking fumble near mid-field. mid-field. To the Viking defense's credit, they kept Timpanogos from capitalizing capitaliz-ing on the Pleasant Grove mistake. The Vikings were aided in the defensive stand - - . t.r ?' .-.. - v L :. .1. i. . With two minutes remaining, Timpanogos forced the fourth turnover of the game, this time by way of the air as Josh Redd came up with the interception intercep-tion near midfield. Timpanogos looked as though they would capitalize capital-ize on the turnover as Kruger connected with Redd and Mark Jensen to get the T-Wolves into scoring scor-ing position at the Viking 15-yard line. Pleasant Grove came up with the important stop instead, when Robby Weber fell on a loose football to give possession posses-sion back to the Vikings.
