She was born December 28, 1910 in American Fork to John Albert and Emily Ann Howard Yancey, and lived there until November, 199S when she moved to Paso Robles, CA with her daughter. She married Jesse Mangum Duffin March 26, 1934. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 12, 1944. She was a member of the LDS church and served in a variety of calling, including Sunday School and MIA teacher. She worked at Sears, Shri-ers Shri-ers Typewriter Store in Salt Lake City and American Fork Hospital for many years. lie greatest joy was her children and family. Her interests included gardening, garden-ing, home improvement projects, oil painting, and reading. She often said how much she loved this life. She will be remembered for her gentle, caring ways. She is survived by four chil-d chil-d r e n : Louise (Ray) Johnson, John-son, Morgan Mor-gan Hill, CA; Launa (Curtis) H a r w a r d , Paso Robles, CA; LaVar Jesse (Irene) Duffin, Bastrop, Bas-trop, TX and LaMond Bruce (Jean) Duffin, Van Buren, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; grandchil-dren; ten great-grandchildren, 1 great-great- grandchild; grand-child; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Carol; grandson, Randal Keen Ashman; two brothers, broth-ers, Kenneth and Veldon Yancey and two sisters, Rhea Johnson and Afton Reo "Madge" Crandall. Funeral services will be Friday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m in Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 E. 100 N., American Fork; where friends may call an hour prior to the services. Burial is in American Fork Cemetery. Steven Merrill Bowers Steven Merrill Bowers, 18, passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident on August 20, 2002. He graduated from Alpine Life and Learning Learn-ing Center in 2002. He was a very talented tal-ented artist and also liked working with computers. He was scheduled to enter Basic Training in the Air Force in February. He had many friends and family who will miss his love of life, great smile and exuber- m i !! i . ' i ant personality. He is survived by his parents, par-ents, Mark and Lonnie Bowers of American Fork, two brothers: Jeremy, his wife Andrea, and their son Orion of Lehi; and Michael of American Fork. Funeral services will be Friday, August 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hillcrest Stake Center, 165 North 350 West, American Fork. She was born March 20, 1909 in T y g e e , Idaho to Charles Arthur and Annie Christensen Welch-man. Welch-man. She married Frank Sylvester Walton November 29, 1929. She was a "Rosie Riveter" Rivet-er" during World War II, riveting riv-eting wings on fighter planes, and worked as a Seamstress at Rough Rider. Quilting was her great love. She also loved painting, playing games. Dominoes being her favorite, and being in her yard. She was an active member of the LDS church and loved reading read-ing and studying church history. She is survived by her children: Frank Junior (Patty) Walton, Napa, CA; Wayne Oliver (Pat) Walton, San Diego, CA; Bernice Hancock, Alpine; 15 grandchildren, grand-children, 24 great- grandchildren; grand-children; and 1 great-great-grandson. She was preceded preced-ed in death by 7 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be Friday, August 23, at 11:00 a.m. in the Alpine 9th Ward, 901 E. He was born March 24, 1930 in American Fork to Alfred and Alice Ewell Chadwick. fcjfc He married ! 111 ' 1 ' Dale Lindquist. He worked at Geneva Steel. He collected rocks and minerals; and loved dancing with his Sweetie and trips to Wendover. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. Thanks to the staff at American Fork Hospital, Mary Hardman; Heritage Care Center, Louise and Jay C Rose Jay C Rose, 82, of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove passed from this earthly life on Friday, August 16, 2002. He was born April 13, 1920 in H y r u m , Utah the youngest of five chil dren to John Conrad and Nellie Ann Smith Rose. He married Betty Lou Soren-son Soren-son on April 14, 1941 in Hyrum, Utah. Their marriage mar-riage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Jay grew up in Hyrum and attended schools there. He worked for the CCC in Pleasant Grove where he met his wife, Betty Lou. Jay then joined the U. S. Army during WWII and served in New Guinea. He worked at Geneva Steel for over 35 years. Jay enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family, carpentry, car-pentry, and helping family and friends. He is survived by his wife Mary; and Hospice, Kris Carter. He is survived by his wife, Dale; grandchildren: Randy Blackburn, Lorri Evans; great-grandchildren, Colby Evans, McKen-zie McKen-zie Evans, Hope Blackburn, Adam Blackburn; great-great-grandchildren, Haylee and Olivia Evans; 2 sisters: Elaine (Nephi) Campbell, American Fork; Phillis (Don) Christen Pleasant Grove; 1 brother: John Chadwick, Ogden; and 1 brother-in-law, Daryl Withers. American Fork. He was preceded in death by his parents, and abrother, Ewell Chadwick, and a sister sis-ter Joyce Withers. Funeral services were Monday, August 19 in the American Fork 29th Ward. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 21, 2002 in the Grove Creek Fourth Ward Chapel, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Shane Wayne Hall Shane Wayne Hall, age 42, passed away on Mon day, Aug. 19, 2002 of natural causes in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was born April 1, 1960 at Fort Carson, Colorado and was raised in Lehi, Utah. He was a skilled carpenter carpen-ter by trade and loved to hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by his dad, Melvin Wayne Hall and brother, Randy Lynn Hall. He is survived by 3 sons, Shay Wayne Hall, Kody Lynn Hall, and Cameron Hall; his mother, Roma Jean Hall, Lehi; 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery, Mapleton, Utah. Friends and family may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. At an early age she moved to American Fork, where she lived when she met and married her one and only true love, Albert H. (Bert) Laycock. They were later eternally sealed in the Provo Temple.
