Show New Utah - Wednesday, December 19, 2001 - Page 20 Am. Fork police donate toddler seats In the spirit of giving the American Fork Police department presented American Fork Hospital with 25 toddler car seats recently. The purchase of the car seats was made possible by a grant the police department depart-ment received this year from the Department of Public Safety Highway Safety Office. In August the Police department donated 26 infant car seats to the hospital, and they have plans to donate an additional addi-tional 25 car seats next week. "The car seats are being' distributed to families and individuals who receive care at the hospital and find themselves in need of a car seat due to an accident or other circumstances," says Larry Layne, Emergency Room manager at American Fork Hospital. The car seats are given out to patients in all departments depart-ments of the hospital, not just those that visit the ER, said Layne. The donation of infant and toddler car seats is part of a community policing polic-ing effort to increase public safety around schools, city streets and community areas, said Steven Cornia, captain of the American Fork Police Department. ; The car seats are part of an overall project of increasing community safety, safe-ty, headed up by the Traffic Division at the American Fork Police department, which includes Captain Cornia, Sgt. Tony Weinmuller and Sgt. Shawn Nielsen. "This is the first year we have applied for a grant of this type and we have applied for another grant for next year so we can continue con-tinue our partnership efforts," said Cornia. The . car seats were purchased in cooperation with K-Mart in American Fork. , In selecting partnerships, partner-ships, Cornia says they chose to donate to American Fork Hospital because "it is our local hospital hos-pital and we want to get the community involved as much as possible. More partnerships will help us meet our goals and objectives objec-tives of community safety," he added. "We have always enjoyed the good relationship we have shared with the American Fork Police Department," said Keith Alexander, administrator of American Fork Hospital. "They have always been there to support us and we hope to continue working together in the future on many projects." - Advertisement - Allreds Approved to Sell NASA Recognized Bedding Technology Allreds in Pleasant Grove has received approval as an authorized dealer for Tempur-Pedic Swedish sleep systems.
