A little more tenacity on defense would go a long way for the T-Bird's return to the top of 4A. Timpview Junior 12.6 ppg Sarah can make just about any shot regardless regard-less of the range but occasionally she threw up ill-advised shots. With some improvements on defense, she has a chance of dethroning the Bruins. Timpanogos Senior 12.2 ppg Nelson was the only offensive weapon the T-Wolves T-Wolves could put on the floor. She probably could of averaged 20 ppg if someone could have gotten got-ten her the ball consistently consis-tently in the low post. Timpview Senior 13!2 ppg The T-Birds will miss McVea. She could score in the paint and from the perimeter. McVea's presence pres-ence in the key helped get the Red twins some open shots. McVea could also shoot the three. Mtn. View Junior 10.5 ppg Cheesman was one of the best centers this past season. A sprained ankle sidelined her during the state tourney. The Bruin post game will become more important next year and Cheesman's role in the offense will increase. Boy's Basketball Tourney First Round: Nelson and Wolves unable to stop Lions MARTIN HARRIS Times Sports Editor It was not the way the script was supposed to be written for Timpanogos High's boys basketball team. The Tiberwolves bowed out after a first round loss by the upset-minded Lions 58-50. "This team has played through so much adversity this year," coach Mark Hardman said. "For them to win the region was a great accomplishment. Of course, we would like to have gone farther." The T-Wolves found a way to put everything together to win its first region title in the sport. Mike Weitzeil shot five-of-seven from the field for 17 points but more impressive impres-sive was his six blocks as he swatted Burgess's first two attempts of the game. "Mike's so good. He was a load tonight and I felt Payson adapted their defense to take him out of the game," Hardman said. "You don't replace a Mike Weitzeil. He's the all-time leading shot blocker in the school's history and who knows how many more he altered." Mac Nelson, Timpanogos's top offensive weapon, could not get his shot on track and finished with six points. "Mac has carried us all year. I know no one feels worse in the locker room right now than he does," Hardman said. "I need to go give him a hug and tell him how great he has been all year. That is not undone in one game."
