The District Award of Merit, given to "outstanding "outstand-ing Scouters who are long-term in serving Scouting and who go the second mile a number of times, helping to fulfill district goals", was presented pre-sented to eleven leaders: G. Wade Brown, Jerry Cross, Reid Fredrickson, Jeanne Geake, David E. James, Mark A. Martin, Annette Newsom, Howard Pae, Michelle Pae, Monte Shelley, and Earl Wooley. Another 20 leaders were honored with the Second Miler Award, given to "outstanding Scouters who go beyond that which is expected in serving Scouting and the young men who comprise it." Those receiving the Second Miler Award were: Janice Baker, Bryce Byers, Judy Carroll, Edward K. Cross, Karla Dye, Ryan Eggett, Danetta R. Lance Pope, Linda Pope, Ramon Porter, James Proctor, Brenda Sederberg, and Shauna Smith. The event was conducted con-ducted -by Sub-district Commissioner Paul Kennedy. Lynn Snow, a Uintah Basin resident and sector chairman for the Utah National Parks Council, was in attendance atten-dance to assist with swearing-in ceremonies for district leaders. Reid Frederickson was sworn in as the new chairman for the district, replacing Richard Porter. Howard Pae is district commissioner, commis-sioner, and Paul Sabey is the district executive. A special award of thanks was given to Paul Sabey, who will have served as a Scouting professional pro-fessional for 33 years this September.
