Officers got there and found it was just a couple who had lit five candles to have a candle-light dinner in the parking lot as part of a creative date. Officers are looking for a 17-year-old Orem youth for . an incident that happened hap-pened at the University Mall on Saturday night at about 9:00 PM. The youth was with some other males reported to be part of the Surenos 13 street gang. The boy was challenging people to a fight, supposedly feeling feel-ing tough with his buddies around him. Someone who recognized the youth asked him why he was acting this way. The suspect reportedly took a piece of re-bar from his pocket or from inside his coat and hit a 19-year-old Orem man on the side of the head who was standing nearby talking on his cell Look up before you go up. There had been no contact between the suspect and victim until the suspect decided to hit someone. After the assault, the group of males left in a blue pickup pick-up truck. Officers have identified the suspect, who was supposed to be on house arrest from the Juvenile court. The victim refused treatment initially for his injury but was later taken to Timpanogos Regional Hospital later in the evening for observation. Early Sunday morning just after Midnight, an Orem man heard someone outside his apartment. He went to investigate and found a20-year-old man of Orem, inside the man's car removing a stereo. The victim vic-tim dragged him out of his car and made a citizens arrest. He was held on the ground by the victim and some other people who came to assist until the police officer arrived and took him into custody. Speakers from the victim's car were found a short distance dis-tance away where he had hidden them. Officers arrested a 22-year-old man, of Orem, early Sunday morning (6:00 AM) without incident after he fired shots from his house at some imaginary bad guys he reportedly saw trying to get into a camping trailer outside his home. There were no tracks or traces in the snow of anyone having been around the trailer. He also thought the bad guys were trying to get into his window. No one was injured from the shooting, shoot-ing, though one neighbor went out to investigate when he heard the shooting and walked into the area where he was shooting at. Once officers arrived, they advised the man, through dispatch, to put the gun down and come out of the house, which he readily did. He is reportedly on medication medica-tion for anxiety and depression depres-sion and has a history of drug abuse, which may have also contributed to his hallucinations. hal-lucinations. He arrested the rear seat passenger, a 29-year-old man, of Orem, for trying to hide his true identity by giving giv-ing Officer Martinez a false name. Story also had a felony warrant out for his arrest. 24-year-old man, of Orem, was also arrested for obstructing justice for telling the officer his name was something other than what it really was. OBITUARIES -.-...$ " Gerald Stewart GERALD ERNEST STEWART Gerald Ernest Stewart, 65, passed away on January 30, 2003. He was born July 1, 1937 in Ely, Nevada to John Wright and Winalee Philena Nay Stewart. He married his sweetheart, Diane Virginia Wilson, on March 1, 1958. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jerry graduated from ; Chaffey High School in Ontario, California in 1955, whereupon he began his career as a steelworker at Kaiser Steel Corporation in Fontana, CA. He worked his way up from floor sweeper to shipping foreman to supervisor supervi-sor of Production Planning. He retired after 29 years of faithful service at Kaiser, but being the hardworking man that he was he continued working beyond his retirement retire-ment at Mag Instruments and Ryder as a company supervisor. supervi-sor. He was a favorite among his co-workers. He and his wife moved to Orem three years ago to be closer to family fami-ly living in Utah. Jerry was an active member of the LDS Church. He loved fishing and reading and spending time with his grandchildren. V 4 I " i ' f t' i I v Y Louise Ericksen LOUISE MARIE CHRISTENSEN ERICKSEN Louise Marie Christensen Ericksen, 94, of Orem, Utah died February 1, 2003 in Orem. She was born May 17, 1908, a daughter of Soren Christian and Caroline Kristin Jensen Christensen in Moroni, Utah. She married Louis Shirley Ericksen October 27, 1932, in Provo. Their marriage was solemnized solem-nized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 9, 1964. Shirley died April 5, 1976. She and her husband operated oper-ated their own barber and beauty shop in North Orem for many years. She continued to work after his death to the age of 85. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Relief Society, as Sunday School Secretary for many years and was a visiting vis-iting teacher and supervisor until 2002. Louise enjoyed doing handwork and her family fam-ily was the recipients of many beautiful items. The greatest joy in her life was her family, the gospel and giving service to others. Survivors include her two daughters,' . Mrs. Fred (Shirleen) Cowley of Boise, ID, Mrs. Albert (Billie Lou) Rowley of Orem, six grandchildren, grand-children, Fredee Adams, Judy Swain, Nannette Kaiserman, Tad Cowley, Robert Rowley, Sharlyn Martinez. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, one great great-'' grandchild, 3 brothers, Herb,' Leo, and Carl. She was pre-j ceded in death by her parents,, husband, her sister Myrtle , Houskeeper, and brothers, " J.D., Manley, Ertmann, Victor, Dick, Elmo, and Owen Christensen. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 6, 2003,' at 1:00 p.m. in the Sharon Park 7th Ward Chapel, 85 East 700 North in Orem. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street in Orem and also Thursday from 11:45 to 12:45 p.m. at the ward chapel. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
