AMERICAN FORK Week of Oct. 9-16 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - A 28-year-old man was arrested for unlawful detention domestic violence, interruption of a communication com-munication device and domestic violence in the presence of a child. The man and his live-in girlfriend got into argument. During the argument, the man blocked the doorway so that the girlfriend could not leave. When she attempted to call 911 the man took her phone away. This occurred in front of their child. STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERY - A 32-year-old man was arrested ar-rested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. A motorcycle had been stolen from a local dealership dealer-ship and was in the possession of the man, who knew it was stolen. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - A 23-year-old man was arrested for unlawful detention domestic violence and assault domestic violence. The man and his wife got into an argument in a parking lot of a local business. During the argument the man threw a cell phone at his wife hitting her in the lip. He then started jumping jump-ing on the hood of their vehicle in an attempt to keep her from leaving. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - A 52-year-old man was arrested for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. The man had illegally parked on private property and his vehicle was in the process of being towed by the property owners, when he came outside and observed the tow in progress. prog-ress. The man began to yell at the tow truck driver and then he got into his vehicle and began to drive it off of the tow truck dolly, damaging the dolly. DUI A 39-year-old woman was arrested for DUI. The woman wom-an had been parked in front of a residence, passed out and the vehicle rolled backward into the front yard of a residence. DUI - A 42-year-old man was arrested for DUI after he was stopped for a traffic violation. DUI A 50-year-old man was arrested for DUI after he was stopped for a traffic violation. ASSAULT - A 26-year-old man was arrested for assault. The man and his girlfriend got into an argument when she came to pick up her belongings. During the argument the man pushed the woman, causing her to fall down the front porch stairs. THEFT BY DECEPTION - A 35-year-old woman was arrested for theft and theft by deception. The woman stole an iPod from a local business and then pawned it at a local pawn shop, repre senting herself as the owner. CEDAR HILLS ACCIDENT - Officers responded respond-ed on a traffic accident. The driver driv-er of a vehicle was in a vacant parking lot learning how to drive. When he attempted to park the vehicle in a parking space, the driver did not fully apply the brake and the vehicle went . through a fence and stopped on a retaining wall. THEFT - Officers responded to a theft report of gasoline being siphoned from of a vehicle. EAGLE MOUNTAIN DUI ALCOHOL - Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and pulled the vehicle over. The investigating officer smelled alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver failed field sobriety tests. He received warnings for speeding and stop sign violation and was booked into the Utah County Jail for driving driv-ing under the influence of alcohol alco-hol and open container. ASSAULT Police were called to a residence following a disturbance dis-turbance when an angry parent went to the residence of a juvenile juve-nile over an incident that had occurred at school. The juvenile wasn't there, so the upset father confronted the other teen's father. fa-ther. The angry father left after pushing and threatening the homeowner, ho-meowner, but allegedly returned later and smashed the windshield wind-shield of the family's car with a baseball bat. He was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. LEHI DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - A man was booked into the Utah County Jail on Oct. 5 for domestic domes-tic violence assault, and domestic domes-tic violence in the presence of children. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - On Oct. 5, police investigated a report re-port where a vehicle had all the windows broken. The garage had sheet rock damage and windows win-dows broken. DUI - A woman was cited on Oct. 8 with DUI, driving left of center, and open container. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM - On Oct. 9, a woman was arrested and charged with calling in a fraudulent fraudu-lent prescription to Albertson's pharmacy. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - A man was booked into the Utah County Jail on Oct. 9 for domestic domes-tic violence assault, disorderly conduct, expired registration, parking in front of a fire hydrant, parking more than 12-inches from a curb, possession of mari juana In a drug-free-zone, and possession of paraphernalia in a drug-free-zone. ASSAULT - A juvenile girl was booked into detention on Oct. 9 for assault, unlawful detention, and interfering with an emergency emer-gency device. AGENCY ASSIST - On Oct.. 5, an officer was dispatched to assist another agency with a felony evading on an older white off-road motorcycle. Arriving at the area where the suspect was believed headed, he heard a motorcycle coming and started approaching it with his car. The suspect spotted the officer and took a left hand turn. The officer sped up and turned down the same street. Another officer arrived ar-rived and turned on the same street directly in front of the suspect and officer. The suspect pulled off on the side of the road. He was handcuffed and placed in the back of the officer's car. Further investigation showed the suspect was driving on a suspended sus-pended driver's license, and was driving the off-road motorcycle on a public road. Also the motorcycle motor-cycle license had expired as of February 2007. The other agency picked up the suspect and transported trans-ported him to the Utah County Jail on felony evading charges. LINDON BURGLARY - On Oct. 11, golf clubs were reported stolen from out of a garage. VEHICLE BURGLARY - Three vehicles had items taken from them. One each on Oct. 13, 16 and 17. ' ' CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Five reports of criminal mischief were taken. They included two reports of graffiti and one report of a window shot out of a vehicle. Dates of occurrence ranged from Oct. 13 to Oct. 19. THEFT A motorcycle and set of tires and wheels were reported re-ported on Oct. 15 to have been stolen. THEFT - On Oct. 16, theft of-a of-a mountain bicycle from the reporting party's truck was re- ported. THEFT - On Oct. 14 a woman was arrested for shoplifting. She was semi-cooperative with officers. of-ficers. THEFT Gardening tools were reported missing on Oct. 13. A suspicious vehicle was noticed watching their residence prior to the theft. PLEASANT GROVE ASSAULT - Officers were dispatched dis-patched to a residence on Oct. 15 on a report of a fight. Upon arrival, they found an intoxicated woman had assaulted several individuals in-dividuals in the home. The wom an was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail. VEHICLE BURGLARY - An Individual reported on Oct. 16 his luggage had been stolen from his car while the car was parked in the driveway. Taken were miscellaneous clothing, luggage, a DVD player, and prescribed medicine. VEHICLE BURGLARY - A Remington rifle was reported taken from a vehicle parked at a residence on Oct. 20. Assorted notebook paper was also taken. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM - A juvenile was arrested for drug possession on Oct. 14 and referred to Juvenile Court. ' CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM - Contact was made with an individual on Oct. 17 on a warrant service. The suspect answered an-swered the door and was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. The suspect sus-pect was booked into the Utah County Jail. , DUI A report of a noise disturbance dis-turbance coming from a vehicle playing it's music too loud was received on Oct. 13. Officers located the vehicle with two occupants oc-cupants inside that were drinking alcohol. The driver was found to be DUI and was given a citation and released without further incident. DUI - On Oct. 15, officers were dispatched to a call of suspicious activity at 931 West State. The suspects speech was found to be very slow and his balance was poor. He was found to be under the influence of prescription prescrip-tion drugs. He was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail for driving under the influence of prescription drugs. DUI A white Chevrolet van was observed on Oct. 18 as it exited the pool hall parking area. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle based on the right passenger side brake light was inoperable. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol alco-hol and was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail for a DUI with priors within ten years, out of California. THEFT OF SERVICE - The reporting party, a city employee, saicf a man had connected to the city water line after the city had disconnected the water for nonpayment non-payment of the bill. One man was cited for theft of service on Oct. 14 and released. VEHICLE BURGLARY - Vehicle Ve-hicle registration, insurance cards, and 2009 stickers were reported stolen on Oct. 17 from two vehicles. VEHICLE BURGLARY - A woman reported on Oct. 18 that a purse was taken from a vehicle. The credit cards in the purse had already been used several times. THEFT Police received a . report that two jogging strollers had been taken from her home sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 and 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 18. THEFT An individual was arrested and taken to the Utah County Jail on Oct. 19 after walking off with two cases of Corona beer without paying for them. Obituaries Carma Smith Beck -s Carma Smith Beck passed away on October 17, 2008 while surrounded by her children, chil-dren, grandchildren grand-children and sisters. Carma was born August Au-gust 11, 1935 in American Fork, Utah to Max and Ivon Adams Smith. She enjoyed growing up with seven , sisters and one brother. Carma married Kent E. Beck, December 14, 1955. They were later sealed in the Provo Utah LDS Temple. Kent passed away July 23, 1973. His unexpected death left Carma to raise her children alone. Carma was diagnosed with Multiple Mul-tiple Sclerosis in 1972. Her endurance, endur-ance, courage, and humor helped her face this challenge for the last 36 years. She never complained about her illness. Carma enjoyed her grandchildren first and foremost, fore-most, but she also enjoyed chocolate, choco-late, Pepsi and pizza. Carma is survived by her children; Kim (Rebecca) Beck, R'obyn (Dennis) Day, Kevin (Apryl) Beck, grandchildren; Jacob Ja-cob (Diane) Beck, Silas (Bethany) Day, Bronson Day, Auston Day, Jordan Beck, Jenna Beck, one great-granddaughter; Aiden Beck, sisters; Barbara (Dolph) Jolley, Kathryn (Hal) Holmstead, Linda (Frank) Manning, Judy (Eldon) Harward, Vickie (Roger) Jensen, brother; Max (Allyson) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Joanne Iverson and Maxine Smith and by a granddaughter, Amanda Beck. Funeral services were held, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi 2nd, 5th & 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 465 East 300 North. Family and friends called, Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi, from 6-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the church. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery. Cem-etery. Wilma Ritchie Nielson Wilma Ritchie Nielson, 63, passed away October 19, 2008 in Pleasant Grove. She was born on August 29, 1945 in Lehi, Utah to James Wilson and Alwene Elizabeth Eliza-beth Rothe Ritchie. She married mar-ried David Ray Nielson on May 13, 1965. They are the parents of four children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved watching the grandkids. Her kids were the highlight of her life. Wilma enjoyed serving in the LDS church, especially as the ward librarian. She is survived by her husband; hus-band; David Ray, children; Calvin (Christy) Nielson, Carl (Laurie) Nielson, Brenda (Robert) Fran-corn, Fran-corn, Shauna (Travis) Clegg, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brothers; Kent (Barbara) Ritchie, Jay (Lily) Ritchie, sisters; Sharlene (Merlin) Russon, Joyce (Robert) Allison. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2008 at 1 1:00 a.m. in the Aspen 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 1485 North 800 West, Orem, Utah. Margaret Messersmith Danielson On behalf of the family of Margaret Messersmith Danielson, we would like to thank her many loving lov-ing friends, relatives, and neighbors.
