Show Page 16 North County papers Thursday, July 10, 2008 PoliceBea I SELECTED INCIDENTS ALPINE HIGHLANP TRESPASSING ARREST - On July 1, 35-year-old Erica Smith of Highland was arrested for criminal crimi-nal trespassing and disorderly conduct, after she returned to an Alpine residence which she had been told to stay away from by police during a prior incident. Smith was causing a disturbance by her loud, disruptive screaming outside the residence. Nearby neighbors were exiting their homes to see what the commotion commo-tion was. Smith was taken into custody by officers, and transported trans-ported to Utah County jail. WARRANT ARREST - On July 3, while effecting a stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in Alpine, police found 27-year-old Michael Cummings, of Lehi, in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. Cummings had seven active warrants from numerous agencies statewide. He was taken into custody and transported to the Utah County jail. DUI - 26-year-old Ryan Garrett Gar-rett of St. George was arrested for DUI on July 6 after he was stopped by officers for a traffic violation vi-olation in Highland. After making contact with the driver, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Garrett was booked into jail on ' charges of DUI, Expired Registration Registra-tion and No Proof of Insurance. Gas for your car, milk for your children, hamburgers ham-burgers for your lunch and a salad for dinner, can easily run you in the ballpark of $100 a day or more, depending on the size of your family. ' paraphernalia. Officers responded respond-ed to a nuisance call and the male suspect was in possession, of the drug and paraphernalia. VEHICLE BURGLARY ARREST A 28-year-old man was arrested arrest-ed for burglary of a vehicle. The man entered a vehicle that was parked at a local business. The owner observed him and confronted con-fronted him about why he was in his vehicle. The man returned some property to the owner that he had taken out of the vehicle and then the took off running. He was followed by the victim, who observed him enter a business. Police arrived and found that suspect sus-pect hiding in the bathroom. DISORDERLY CONDUCT - A 22-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct. The man had entered a local business and asked to use the telephone. He activated all of the intercom systems in the business and then proceeded to walk down isles of the store and knock items off of the shelves. DISORDERLY CONDUCT - A 40-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct and intoxication. intoxica-tion. The victim stated that the man was upset at him and accused ac-cused him of giving his daughter drugs. The victim attempted to leave and the suspect started chasing him down the street threatening to assault him. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - A 34-year-old man was arrested for criminal mischief domestic violence vio-lence and domestic violence in the presence of a child. The man got into an argument with his live-in girlfriend. He became upset up-set and punched a mirror, breaking break-ing it. This occurred in the presence pres-ence of several young children. DISORDERLY CONDUCT - A 20-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct. The victim was riding his scooter down the states, and did not find any of them to be very kind to our budget, or our wallet. I know that store owners, could see us coming from miles away, driving driv-ing in our large family car, and thinking either the Mafia is in town or here comes a lot of hungry mouths. On our last count we spent approximately $20 a day on ice cream cones. Times that by the eight days that we were on vacation, we figure we spent somewhere in the ballpark of $160 on ice cream cones alone. Now, there is not much to be said when you're looking for a snack. It is hot and all the kids want are ice cream cones. Every ice cream vendor ven-dor knows that over $3 for a small ice cream cone, is a price that most any parent ti ill -w 'V- x. RETAIL THEFT - A 25-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman were arrested for retail theft and possession of stolen property. The women were observed taking tak-ing numerous items from a local lo-cal business and not paying for them. During the investigation, officers located several clothing items stolen from another store on a previous day. CEDAR HILLS CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Officers Of-ficers investigated a report of a criminal mischief where someone some-one damaged the Coke machine located at the golf course. TRAFFIC ACCIDENT - Officers Of-ficers investigated a traffic accident acci-dent where a vehicle had backed into a parked vehicle. VEHICLE BURGLARY - Officers Of-ficers responded to a report of a vehicle burglary where a purse was taken. EAGLE MTN. OPEN CONTAINER - During a traffic stop, a patrol officer observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was cited for open container and no proof of insurance. ILLEGAL CONSUMPTION - A deputy smelled alcohol inside a vehicle during a traffic stop on July 4. The deputy asked for the occupants' ages and found that all three were under 21 years old. After tests were administered, one passenger was cited for illegal il-legal consumption of alcohol and the driver was cited for illegal will pay to keep their children happy and quite, if only for a moment. The worst thing about spending this kind of money on ice cream, was the moment that our children said, "Mom, your homemade ice cream is so much better than this." I was not sure if I should be angry with our children for not appreciating an expensive treat, or flattered that our children chil-dren enjoy my cooking. JUVENILE PROBLEM - Three juveniles were cited into Juvenile Court oh June 30 for illegal consumption con-sumption of alcohol by a minor. , DISORDERLY CONDUCT - Two juveniles were cited on " June 30 for disorderly conduct , following a call to Wines Park. MEDICAL EMERGENCY - A man was booked into the Utah , . County jail on June 30 on pos- ' session of explosive, chemical, or incendiary device and explosive, chemical or incendiary parts (three counts) CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Someone Some-one entered a home on June 30. They turned the water on and plugged the drain, causing extensive exten-sive damage to the home. SUSPICIOUS - Officers responded re-sponded to a report of suspicious individuals near a construction site on July 3. They were staying at Motel 6. They were advised to stay out of the construction area. TRAFFIC OFFENSE - An individual was cited on July 2 with display of gross weight and more, mud flaps, and no insurance insur-ance following a traffic stop. SUSPICIOUS PERSON - On June 25, a suspicious man was reported bothering customers at a business. PLEASANT GROVE ASSAULT Officers responded toTimpanogos Regional Hospital Emergency Room on July 3 on a report of an assault. The victim had limited suspect information but did have several warrants. The victim was booked into the Utah County jail. ASSAULT - On July 5, reporting report-ing party came to the police de very easy to operate. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - A restaurant manager reported on June 30 that his building was vandalized between June 27 and June 30. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Report Re-port on June 30 of graffiti spray painted on the upper south side of a business building. A suspect was interviewed and video sur- , veillance available. The incident was related to three other tagging reports taken. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Police received a report on June 30 of gang graffiti painted on the south and west sides of a business building. Suspect was identified. CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - Graffiti Graf-fiti was reported on July 3 at Valley Val-ley View Elementary School. Also reported on a bridge and cement barrier on the Murdock Canal. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM - While investigating investigat-ing a disorderly incident on July 2, a man and woman were arrested arrest-ed for possession of heroin and possession of paraphernalia in a drug-free-zone. The altercation was determined to be verbal only. Both the man and woman were booked into the Utah County jail. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM While on patrol on July 3, two suspicious individuals were noticed standing by a vehicle. ve-hicle. Officers checked them out and found one to have a warrant and the other was found to have paraphernalia and marijuana. Both were arrested. One for marijuana and the other on the warrant. CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE PROBLEM - A traffic stop on July 5 resulted in one man being arrested for possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia and a suspended driver's license. Upon initial contact with the driver, alcohol could be ' smelled. Field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver was found to be too impaired to drive. Driver was arrested for DUI and the vehicle ve-hicle impounded. THEFT - A theft of wire report was taken from a local business on July 1. The suspect had driven into the open lot and loaded several sev-eral rolls of 24-gauge wire worth several thousand dollars without permission from the company and drove out of the parking lot. This was the fourth time the same suspect has taken wire from the company. THEFT A radio was reported taken from the Pleasant Grove Fire Department on July 4. It was listed on NCIC. SARATOGA SPRINGS THEFT Police have arrested a former employee of Arctic Circle restaurant following a week-long investigation into her account of a robbery. The woman reported being robbed by two armed men as she walked to the bank with the restaurant's cash deposit. She later confessed to investigators investiga-tors that she made up the story. She is being charged with alleged felony theft, misdemeanor theft, filing a false police report and providing a false written statement state-ment to police. DUI - While Saratoga Springs Police officers were controlling traffic during the course of an accident investigation at the crossroads of S.R.-73 and S.R.-68, a motorist yelled an expletive at an officer. The officer noticed a strong smell of alcohol from the driver and stopped the vehicle. The driver was arrested for driving driv-ing under the influence of alcohol, alco-hol, driving on a revoked license, driving while being alcohol-restricted, and disorderly conduct. 1 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 1 can (5 ounces) evaporated evapo-rated milk 12 cup butter (no substitutes) substi-tutes) In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the un-wrapped caramels, chocolate chips, milk and butter.
