Mom would cook dinner for us that tasted better than anyone else's mom's food. Dad has turned into a chef, and I have to wonder if . he always had it in him, but did not want to offend my mother in her cookin' place. Dad could give Rachel Ray a run for her money. I le is always finding new recipes and adding things here and there to improve the taste. Whenever we gather as a family we always enjoy it w hen Dad brings a dish that he has cooked. Dad has many astounding qualities. He listens, lis-tens, he is patient, he is an anchor, a source of strength, a teacher, patriotic, and seems to always know what I have 'on my jfiiihd. Dad is amazingly ' talent-ed and smart. He is lov- " . ing'. taring and truly the best lather-ana grundlatner you w.ill find. , ' V-l will always remember- .''.DjiA's hands being rough and , , sfruiig and his feet and legs . being weak and fragile from injuries he sustained in the ' ' Vietnam War". But I will remember re-member those legs carrying us countless miles without a complaint and how Dad's hands could and still can wipe away our tears. Now I can add to my memory, his hands cooking and how.be has added another notch to his talent belt. Congrats Dad! You are now a member of the Old Family & CLEARANCE .-.' r km, 1 ttrtng in th i fin ij Your Smile. 4 . i?nj)ni!tlcr!(i W Steve's Stew 1 2 lbs, cubed stew meat. 4 tbsp. all-purpose flour I Ground black pepper 1 4 tbsp. of vegetable oil I 10 -12 red potatoes I 4 carrots 3 - 14oz. cans Swanson Beef Broth 1 - 12oz. can beef gravy (I like Franco American) 1 - pkg. McCormick dry beef stew mix (found by the packaged gravies) I (onions optional) Cube beef to 1" squares and season with black pepper. Place beef and flour into a plastic bag and shake until beef is coated. Brown beef in hot skillet woil, do not over cook, as beef will cook in crock-pot. Pour 1 can of broth into crock pot. Place quartered potatoes and sliced carrots into crock ppt. .Mix' dry stew mix with 1 can of beef broth and pour over vegetables'; ; ; Place browned beef .into crock-pot. Pour 1 tan of beef gravy over browned beef. Pour Tarn of, hroth into the mix. Do not stir or open lid during cooking time. Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 8-10 hours. , i If flavor is too strong add water to dilute. Serves 8-10 Favorite's Cookin' Place! ; This stew is phenomenal! Try it you might just have a new favorite. The ingredients are basic (Dad is picky) and you should have most of them on hand.
