They were married in Las Vegas, Nevada and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Lehi where they still reside. They are the proud parents of five children, Debbie Barnes (Syd), Susan Howard How-ard (Rick), Relda White (Greg), Shane Barnes (Patty), Natalie Henderson, and in 1977 Toshiki Barnes joined their family. They are also blessed with 20 grandchildren grand-children and four great grandchildren. grandchil-dren. Last year they served a LDS mission in Cove Fort, Utah. To celebrate this joyous occasion occa-sion they will meet as a family for memories and dinner. Their children and grandchildren are grateful for the example they have been to them and most of all for their love and support. Evelyn Wimmer, 80th Evelyn Merikofer Wimmer will celebrate her 80th birthday on October 9, 2007. There will be an open house in her honor at the Northampton House, 198 West 300 North, American Fork from 6 to 8 p.m. Evelyn was born October 9, 1927 in Vallejo, California. She was the second daughter born to Albert and Gertrude Greenland Merikofer. Her parents moved to American Fork when she was two years old. She is a lifetime resident of American Fork. She received her early education in local school. She graduated from American Fork High School and LDS Seminary in 1945. She married Leland Pulley Wimmer Feb. 14, 1945 in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August Nona Wimmer, 80th The family of Nona Strong Wimmer will be celebrating her 80th birthday at a family dinner. Nona was born September 30, 1927 in Alpine, Utah. She was the seventh child born to Claude and Mildred Strong out of their family of nine children. They grew up on an 88 acre farm and learned how to work hard at a very early age. Money for school clothes and extras had to be earned by picking pick-ing berries and doing other farm work. Nona's father died when she was 8 years old and she moved to Lehi a few years later when her mother was remarried to Mil-len Mil-len Kirkham. She hated moving at first, but later learned to love Lehi. She graduated from Lehi High School. During that time she dated Eugene Wimmer and waited wait-ed for him while he served in US Navy during W.W.II. They were married on December 10, 1945 and raised six children during their 55 year marriage. Gene built her two homes during that time and Nona worked right beside him. They have six children; Steven Lee Wimmer (deceased), Sheldon (Mary) Wimmer of Alpine, Al-pine, Raymond (Pat) Wimmer of Leesburg, Virginia; Darrell (deceased) (de-ceased) (Linda) Wimmer of Orem; DoriLynn (Gary) Roberts of Lehi; and Harold (deceased) (Ruth) Wimmer of Hyde Park. She has one sister, Vivian Murdock of there when he passed away on December 8, 2000 in their beautiful beauti-ful home in American Fork. Nona has spent her life serving others. Her children Sonja (Gene) Drabner, Karla (Kirk) Moore, Cal (Michelle) Wimmer, Charlotte (Richard) Mollerup, Jeanette Wimmer, Natalie (Reginald) Tanner Tan-ner have been direct recipients of her dedication and hard work. Nona has sacrificed and provided for her family her entire life. She also has many hobbies and talents. She loves to cook, crochet, quilt, garden, write in her journal, and attend the Daughters of the Utah Ami i , , 1 J Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Tumbling, Hip Hop, Technique, TapBallet combo, and Tiny Tots classes are available. She is a member of the American Fork 3rd Ward of the American Fork Hill-crest Hill-crest Stake. She presently serves as the ward historian. She and her husband Leland have served three full-time missions for the church from 1989 to 1995; Baton Rouge Louisiana, Birmingham England and London England. She was the local correspondent correspon-dent for the Deseret News for 15 years. She enjoys writing histories and has published her own history, his-tory, "Seventy Years of Living" along with numerous other books. She has in her collection more than 60 books on her family lines. Much of her time is spent doing research and genealogy. She enjoys travel and has visited vis-ited nine European countries, 48 states, Canada and Mexico. Pioneer and the American Fork Literary Clubs. Her beautiful piano music is enjoyed by all and people marvel when they discover that she is playing by ear. Nona and Gene served a wonderful won-derful mission to the St. George area and mesmerized visitors with stories of Jacob Hambling's Home, Brigham Young's Home, and the St. George Temple. Nona also served a mission in American Fork calling and updating church records. Nona's cooking is legendary. Family and neighrx)rhood parties at Christmas and other times are a highlight for family, friends and neighbors. When asked about what she has enjoyed about her life so far, she quickly answers: hard work, children, grandchildren, cooking, church callings, and living in her home that dad built for her and her family.
