The outdoor concert, under the direction of conductors Alan Allred and Terry Hill, will begin at 7 p.m. in the American Fork Amphitheater, 850 E. 700 North, American Fork. Admis sion is free. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at American Fork Junior High School, 1120 N. 20 West. Titled "Salute to America," the event will present a variety of concert favorites. Allred's professional career includes work as a conductor, educator and violinist. He has taught at all levels of public instruction including as professor profes-sor of music at Humboldt State University where he served as orchestra director and instructor instruc-tor of violin and viola. He is string supervisor for Provo School District, serving as conductor con-ductor of the Timpview High School Philharmonic and Symphony Sym-phony orchestras. Hill taught music in Provo School District for 24 years and is a popular guest conductor conduc-tor and adjudicator throughout the West. He was director of the Utah Valley Youth Symphony Sym-phony and recently retired from Utah Valley State College where he was an associate professor pro-fessor of music and director of orchestral studies. He is now teaching music and conducting in Las Vegas, Nev. Members of the American Fork Symphony are from American Fork and surrounding surround-ing communities from Eagle Mountain to Payson. Life skills classes offered NORTH COUNTY STAFF The Center for Personal and Career Development is offering two life skills classes this summer. sum-mer. These classes are offered through the nonprofit UVSC School of Continuing Education program, in Orem beginning in July and teach management techniques that will provide struggling individuals with the necessary skills to successfully conquer difficult life events and transitions such as job loss and marriage problems. The courses offered this summer sum-mer are: Managing Life Transitions Transi-tions and Anger Management. In Managing Life Transitions, Transi-tions, which begins on July 10, students learn how to deal with crisis and transition due to death, divorce, separation and abandonment. The class focuses on helping participants move toward independence and personal responsibility. Anger Management, which begins July 18, covers physical and psychological elements of anger, understanding domestic violence, and more. Classes are held in Orem, and scholarships are available avail-able to low income students. Students should register soon, because classes fill quickly.
