No, wait What I would really 13b Is a movie about a serial killer who stalk and kills writers, producers and directors who think another movie about serial killers is a super-neat idea. Can we please come up with a murder movie that is not about serial killers?! Ashlej Judd is va-va-voom. And Andy Garcia (Tax told) is yao-zaa. And Samuel Jackson is just, you know, cooL So if you take all of those people and put them in a movie about anything it's bound to be great, right? Eight Unless that story happens hap-pens to be about another freakin' serial killer! Abhley Judd plays Jessica Shepherd, the daughter of a former policeman who just happened to go on a "we never saw it coming" killing spree that ended with his wife who happened io like to deep around a little too much herself Which means... you guessed it, Shepherd has the leanings of a sexual-predator serial killer who just happens to drink too much. When the movie begins Shepherd has just been promoted pro-moted to detective when the gets her first homicide, and it just happens that she has slept with the guy. Not too strange, until each successive victim also happens to have Shepherd in common, along with the rest of San Frantinoo is seems. The movie twists and turns, really more like meanders its way to a final "climactic" conclusion that I saw coming from about midway mid-way through the movie. Twisted is not a bad movie, it's a good movie trapped in the body of a bad movie. In all seriousness, it's fun to watch, if you like that kind of crime drama, but it is far from original orig-inal or even catchy. Plus it's about another serial kUler; which I am really tired of The Pamaon of the Christ Rating: ZJb stars There are few topics so sensitive and important, to both Christians and Jews alike, as the life and death of the man named Jesus. It drives the way we think, the way we act and the way we believe. To many, this story is so special it is wrong to consider con-sider it in a commercial venture. ven-ture. To others it is this eUnrft beautiful uniqueness that demands that as many people as possible see it Mel Gibson, the director and financier of The Passion of the Christ is one of the latter, unfortunately unfortunate-ly the movie is so passionate, it will kave most audiences, in this valley at least trembling, trem-bling, not with awe and inspiration, inspi-ration, but with exhaustion and numbness. The Passion of the Christ is a carefully obstructed narrative nar-rative that documents the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus. The 6ets are breathtak-ingly breathtak-ingly remarkable, the costumes cos-tumes are exquisite in their complexity, and aD the lines are spoken in either Hebrew, Aramak, or Latin. No cost nor detail, was spared when it came to the telling of this tale, especially when it comes to the violence enacted upon Christ The last 12 hours of Christ's life were violent hours. They were filled with beatings and torture that are impossible to describe on film. Gibson delves deeply into the reality of what it must have been like for Christ in those last hours and the sets run deep with blood in order to illustrate. little is spared, including the audience, in this graphic depiction of torture, humiliation humilia-tion and, in the end, crucifixion crucifix-ion These scenes are so long i 1 Timp Plaza DENT8L Dr. Stttia R. As to the charge of anti-Semitism: anti-Semitism: 1 saw nothing to encourage such opinions or behavior. The movie is fair in its depiction of corrupt leaders lead-ers who wanted this trouble-making trouble-making Jesus removed from their politically-charged world. The film clearly depicts many of the Jewish leaders and common people protesting what is being done, leaving in disgust and even defending Jesus. Many, of course, demanded Jesus's death, however many more in the film beg for the proceedings proceed-ings to stop. If anyone is depicted as horrific blood-mongers blood-mongers it is the Roman soldiers sol-diers who are seen as heartless, heart-less, cruel and bloodthirsty. The Passion of the Christ is a brilliant movie, with one of the most important stories to te3L However it is its stringent strin-gent portrayal that will ultimately ulti-mately lead to a lack of success suc-cess it could have had with a lesser rating. This movie deserves its "R" rating. However How-ever it is one of the most moving mov-ing and beautiful movies I have seen in a long time. It is well worth your time and money to go see as long as you can stomach the reality of some of the scenes.
