American Fork coach Rick Lyman said that with so many players due to be out of town during the week of Pioneer Day, that he opted to forfeit the Cavemen's first two games of the tournament tourna-ment just before the first pitch of the July 23 playoff game against West Jordan. For the West Jordan game alone, American Fork had only nine players turn out. However, even though the Cavemen did officially forfeit, for-feit, the teams still played, and the Cavemen won the ensuing contest 14-13. Though played at American Ameri-can Fork, West Jordan was the home team. In the top of the first, the Cavemen got one-out singles from Josh Jones and Ryan Riddle. Two outfielders didn't let American Ameri-can Fork profit from those hits.
