Gunther and David Richards, among those transformed into college faculty members for filming of graduation scene. Local Residents in Movies A group of American Fork residents received an insight into what goes into making a movie when they entered that make-believe world for a day. Members of the Amrican Fork North and the Alpine LDS Stakes were invited to serve as extras for the graduation scene of the Brigham Young University motion picture studio production of "Uncle Ben" on Saturday, December 17. The scene was filmed at the American Fork High School. Man, women and teenagers posed as parents, friends and relatives of the "graduates" with some on the scene for the entire day of shooting and others, half a day. Several of the community leaders became instant faculty members of the "junior college" in the film, and many high school students were promoted to college life as members of the schools ac-capella ac-capella choir. BYU students posed as the college graduates. Peerless do-it-yourself WASHERLESS faucets. A And it took all morning for the one scene to be completed with audience members sitting, sit-ting, standing, clapping, being quiet and even chatting to one another-on cue. A glimpse was seen of how the movie producers make a small crowd look like a large one by moving people here or there and even having someone put on or take off a jacket or hat. Shots from the front of the auditorium, from the back, from the sides were taken-and always with the instruction give- do not look at the camera. Breaks came as cameras were moved from the back of the stage to the back of the auditorium. Part of the audience were released as close-up reaction shots wre taken of the stars in particular scenes and everyone was no longer needed. And through it all patience was exhibited-by the director (David Jacobs), the production manager (Peter Johnson, also introduced as the dialogue coach of the star of television' "Streets of San Francisco," the stars (including Francis Urry, known for her roles in LDS films; Chip Boynton, a Hollywood actor; Ed Hun-saker, Hun-saker, Provo, a model; Dr. Keith Engar, director of drama at the University of Utah; and others), and the extras.
