Show 3 i With Tom You women have me worried. wor-ried. For example, in this recent woman's conference held in Salt Lake City, it sounded more like a male political poli-tical convention than a get together of women. There were those who came prepared to impose their philosophy philo-sophy on others, and when the good girls refused to buy they became mad and made a lot of accusations. What a changing world this is. Recently on television I saw a parade in which a unit of the armed forces participated. participat-ed. Sprinkled throughout the unit were some women marching march-ing along with rifles over their shoulders. Not an inspiring sight. If we are to depend upon women to fight our battles it would be better if we old men started to train. I am not belittling the ability of women. In many ways they are superior to men but physically they are limited. limit-ed. I cannot help but believe that the women who are pushing push-ing this equal rights thing are disillusioned with life and are striving to find some recognition. recogni-tion. It would be a sad world indeed in-deed if men and women drifted drift-ed apart. From somewhere the term Chauvinistic Pigs has come. Referring of course to men. Out of curiosity I looked it up and discovered that it originated with Nicholas Chau-vin, Chau-vin, whose demonstrated par-tiotism par-tiotism to Napoleon came Vi be ridiculed by his comrades. So I presume a Chauvinist pig is someone who is patriotic to his own sex. Sometime in the near future we can expect to see a similar phrase hatched out concerning women. Such as Chauvinistic cat, or Chauvinist Moll. I hope that day never comes. I think of Mark Twain who gave a beautiful compliment to his wife. "Where she is, there is Eden." Wouldn't it be sad if women finally won their fight for equal rights. Instead of being in Eden it would be a far warmer, more unfriendly place. I am grateful to my mother for giving me life. For demon strating to me the meaning of gentleness and love. Her dream was not of equal rights but to have her children grow up to be decent, honest. Godfearing God-fearing citizens. I carry in my heart little memories that come back to me when I need some cheering up. Like the morning when she called to me from her little flower garden. The sun had not yet melted the den and there she stood with a flower in her hand. "Come, Son, and smell the perfume," and I put my nose to the flower. As I did she said, "Isn't God good to give us flowers?" She took time to teach us games. Like the one where she would hold a golden buttercup under my chin and if there was a reflection, which there always was, she would laugh Dy Jack Nielsen The oil that circulates through an engine performs four important functions. Its' primary task is to provide a slippery film between fast moving parts in order to reduce friction that can cause excessive wear or even binding. bin-ding. The old also acts as a sealant in the cylinders, placing a fluid bond between the pistons and the cylinder walls. In its' other two functions, func-tions, oil serves as a coolant, absorbing and carrying away some of the engine heat, and as a cleanser, picking up such contaminants as water, gasoline, dirt and metal particles. Tender, Tend-er, thoughtful, and kind. She sees the reflection of her maker in everyting. Out of the commonplace she can find loveliness. The other morning while weeding my garden she called to me, "Come and see." I thought to myself, "What is there to see that is more important than pulling these danged weeds. But I went and she was standing over a tiny rose bush that she had grown from a cutting under a fruit jar. Now there was a miniature minia-ture blossom, the first. "Isn't it lovely?" she said, "Aye, lovely, it was, but those cussed weeds must be pulled." She saw more beauty than I yTT" CHICKEN 'O SEA l,'pat I ROY Al II " BLUE ALAMO 42Sit a jsl a s fi ;,v. "All About Eve" was an academy aca-demy award winner produced in 1950 by J. L. Mankiewicz. It stars Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, and Celeste Holm, with George Sanders, Gary Merill, and Gregory Ratoff. In 1947 musicals were the big attraction and "Good News," starring June Allyson TEXAS COFFEE CAKE h o EACH i haves SHOO EFFERDENT .DENTURE CLEANER M 96-TABLET WEDNESDAY. JULY 6, 1977 and Peter Lawford, was one of the best put out by MGM. The musical score includes such familiar tunes as "Varsity Drag," "Lucky in Love," and "The Best Things in Life are Free." Jon McCracken from the great Broadway production sang and danced a sensational new number, "Pass that Peace Pipe," by Roger Edens, Hugh Martin, and Ralph Blane. This movie will never grow old because of its enthusiasm in both song and dance. It's the "Good News" of being young and alive.
