Fork Deseret Industries Drive Scheduled For Saturday, April 8 There will be a collection of items for the Deseret Industries from the families Jiving in the American ForkStakeareaonSat-urday, ForkStakeareaonSat-urday, April 18. Please have items on your front porches by 9:00 a.m. for pickup by the trucks. Items especially needed are rags (these do not have to be washed) and men'ssuits. Please put clothing cloth-ing and rags in cardboard boxes or paper sacks. Tie shoes together to-gether or place together in an old nylon stocking. If you have large furniture items please contact your ward Deseret Industries representative who will arrange a later pickup at your home. The Lord said, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Your contribution con-tribution means jobs for about 225 of your handicapped brothers and sisters. THE DESERET INDUSTRIES IN ACTION Jane was a very active five-year-old that sunny morning when she chased a ball out into the street. The driver of the car tried to miss her but she appeared ap-peared too suddenly. Today she is still the same sweet Jane, still very much concerned con-cerned about the happiness of others, oth-ers, and still in love with life. The accident left hei partially paralyzed, preventing her from doing many of the things that Explorer Road Rally Training Classes Mon., Tues. If you want to be one of the three-men crews participating in the Tri-District Explorer Road Rally, you must attend the training train-ing classes scheduled for participants par-ticipants at American Fork High School Monday and Tuesday. The training class will be held April 20 and 21 and all Explorers serving serv-ing as observers, navigators or drivers must attend. The course of the Road Rally has been s:t and will remain secret until rally time April 25. A display concerning the rally will be available for viewing at American Fork HighSchoolMon-day HighSchoolMon-day and Tuesday and will then be moved to the Tri-CityMotor display. dis-play. When you give to the DI, you help Jane and her friends by giving them the opportunity to help themselves. Applications For Explorer Road Rally Distributed Applications for the Explorer Road Rally, scheduled for April 25, have been distributed to the various Explorer units in American Amer-ican Fork, Lehi and Pleasant Grove. A driver, navigator and ob-servor ob-servor will combine as a team in each competing vehicle, traveling over a pre-determined course. The Road Rally is open to all Explorers of the Tri - District area. American Fork Explorers and leaders needing additional information infor-mation are invited to contact Dick Mecham, Ed Baldwin or Glen Peterson. Second Lieutenant Wilford Day has been home on leave from Bil-oxi, Bil-oxi, Mississippi. HisparentsMr. and Mrs. Wayne Day have enjoyed having him home before he reports re-ports to his next base. He has graduated with an electrical engineers en-gineers degree and is following this field in the service. Mrs. Beth Hyde is recovering nicely from her recent surgery. As of Tuesday, she was still in the hospital. Bill Hyde has recovered sufficiently suf-ficiently from his heart attack to leave the hospital and return re-turn home. Singing Mothers Concert is this coming Saturday eyening at the Alpine Stake House beginning at 8 p.m. Let's enjoy an hour of music as families. UG Am iui tH0 fciW mm V - v Troop 12 Scouts Assist in Rubella Program Scouts from Troop 12, under the direction of Andy Block, scoutmaster, assisted in project "Rub Out Rubella," at the Shelley Shel-ley School. Randy Rhodes, Eddie Clark, Mark Milne, Mike McCoy, Ron Hunter, Toni Puenta, Tony Tol-ton, Tol-ton, and James Adamson did such things as directing traffic and parking, directing people into in-to the proper entrances and lines, assisting the doctors and nurses with equipment and supplies. This is the third such project the boy scouts have participated in over the years at the school. Polio and both measles clinics needed the very kind of help the scouts can give.
