But how many Americans each year unwittingly un-wittingly harm themselves by drinking poison In disguise? "In Utah last year, hundreds of persons, many of whom were small children, required medical medi-cal treatment or hospitalization as a result of accidentally eating or drinking poison," says Fred Montmorency, vice president j for home safety, of Utah Safety j Council, a chapter of the Na tional Safety Council. "In many of these cases, the poison was not in its original container." "Using pop bottles and other common food containers to store potential poisons is gambling with your family's safety," continued Montmorency. "People, tend to forget that one particular bottle contains poison and not the cool, relaxing drink they normally expect. ex-pect. For this reason, all household house-hold cleaners should be stored in their original containers." To help families recognize conditions in the home that could lead to cases of mistaken iden tity, the National Safety Council Coun-cil has published a four page pamphlet, "Fall Safe HoW to Prevent Poisoning." To be doubly sure that no one will accidentally sample poison-to poison-to "Fall Safe" -families should store all household cleaners away from food supplies, the pamphlet advises.
