Show fcrih Graters Present Choral iRcrding-Prograra. , Mrs. Geraldlne Hunter's fourth grade class put on a Choral Read foe oroeram for the oarents re cently. It was an outstanding program that took much time and creoaration. During the year the children memorized at least one poem a month and some even wrote their own poetry - these poems were the ones used on the pro gram. Prlncioal Beckstrand wel comed everyone to the program and then presented tropnys tome winner in the recent school Jack Tournament. The school champion cham-pion was Annette Miller from the Fifth Grade, runner up was Llllie Row from the Fifth Grade. Fourth Grade runner up was Sandra Sumpslon. It was really a marvelous pro-gram pro-gram and shows what can be done with lots of want to learn and hard work by both the teacher and the children. These children said this poetry with out any stopping for a little over 45 minutes. Baccalaureate Services Held At High School Baccalaureate Services were held Sunday, May 23, in the American Amer-ican Fork High School Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. The program of the afternoon was presented by the honor students of the senior class Indians may participate in the surplus food program. - 1 At least 80 percent of the tea sold in this country is consumed in homes. - Average America last year consumed 173 pounds of meat. LaVar Rockwood, Coordinator Coordina-tor of Student Activities at Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University gave the address to the graduates. He bund the theme of his talk on the famous fam-ous lines, "The world Trill not remember what we say here" from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Gettys-burg Address. " He charged the graduates with the challenge of planning their own future according accord-ing to their abilities and not to try to be something way above their capabilities. He spoke to the parents stating that the love from a parent is the power that the teens of the present day need. He advised parents to speak of their love to their young folks and not keep it hidden. This lack of affection and closeness on the part of the parent is one of the things that turn boys and girls away from their homes feeling that they cannot confide In their parents. The opening song was sung by a double trio of girls, "America "Amer-ica the Beautiful," by Mary Ann Ellison, Kaye Smith, Susan Smith, Loralee Priday, Elaine Hansen and Julie Searle. Accompanist was Geraldlne Inouye. Mrs. Frank Lawton directed all the musical numbers. "Halls of Ivy" was sung by a double duet, with Susan Spain-bower, Spain-bower, Marilyn Willis, Anna Whitby and Susan Smith participating, parti-cipating, and the concluding number num-ber was sung by another double trio, "No Man is an Island."
