The couple are planning an October Oc-tober 29 wedding which will be solemnized in the Manti Temple. Miss Bailey is a graduate of the Juab High School and the Juab Stake Seminary. She also graduated grad-uated from Stevens-Henager Business College. . Mr. Corfield is a graduate 'of the American Fork High School and IDS Seminary. He has attended at-tended Brigham Young University Univer-sity and has fulfilled an LDS Hawaiian Mission. Council Approves Tourist k- Promotion Program A program to coordinate tour-; tour-; 1st promotion in the state of Utah and in our community was ap-s ap-s proved by the American Fork - City Council this week. X- Councilman Willi a rd Devitt I' proposed that the council approve t the program. ; Each community in Utah is being asked to cooperate with the Utah Municipal League and I other agencies concerned with tourist promotion. At a luncheon meeting of the Ladies of the Alpine Country Club Golf Association held Tuesday, Tues-day, September 28, Blanche Smessart was named chairman for the coming golf season. Named to serve with Mrs, Smessart were Nancy Butcher, vice chairman; Billie Haun, Handicap chairman for 18 holes and Leone Ellsworth for 9 holes; Tournament chairman for 18 holes, VI Dimmick and for 9 holes, Beth Barratt. Beverly Julian Ju-lian was elected to serve another year as secretary as was Gloria Lee as treasurer. Elder Larry Bartholomew Accepts Call to Serve in North Indian Mission The new American Fork Ninth Ward Church is the setting for the Missionary Farewell Services Serv-ices in honor of Elder Larry B. Bartholomew who has been called to serve in the Northern Indian) Mission. Services have been set for Sunday, October 3, at 6:00 p.m. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bartholomew. Elder Bartholomew is a graduate grad-uate of the American Fork High School and the LDS Seminary, four-year program. He has been active in scouting and holds an Eagle Scout award. He was an Explorer Delegate to both San Diego, California and Ann Arbor, Michigan. He has served as Priesthood organist and hplds a Duty to God Award. Has attended Ricks College, in Idaho for one year and worked for a timber company In Idaho for the past summer. 'The congregation will sing the opening number at the program service, "We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet" with Frank Witney Wit-ney offering the invocation. Betty wight will play the prelude and postlude music. God Our Father Hear Us GlenLVarney Accepts TV Position With ABC Glen L. Varney, son of Mr. and Mrs, Glen H. Varney of American Fork has accepted a position in the Publicity Department Depart-ment of the American Broadcasting Broad-casting Company television network net-work in Hollywood,-California. After attending high school in American Fork, Glen spent six years in the Navy. During hist tour of duty he traveled from the Orient to Europe. He worked in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Or-ganization (NATO) as a personal secretary to four admirals. Upon leaving the Navy, Glen enrolled at the Brigham Young University in Provo, graduating in June with a B.A. degree in radio television production.
