Show THE AMERICAN FORK CITIZEN, Thursday, May 25, 1961 Rotary Foundation Fellowship Available to Local Student For One Year of Study Abroad A year of study abroad as a Rotary Foundation Fellow Is the exciting possibility for some student from American Fork, it was anounced by J. Newel Stephen, Ste-phen, president of the American Ameri-can Fork Rotary club. Applications are now being accepted by the Rotary club for the fellowship, which includes all transportation, education and ' living expenses for the 1962-63 afeademic year. Fellowship Qualifications Applications for the Rotary Fellowship , may be made only by students whose permanent residence Is American Fork, and should be submitted to J. Ralph Blnnall, American Fork. Candidates Can-didates must be single and between be-tween the ages of 20-28 inclu sive. They must have a college or university degree (or must now be In their Junior or sen lor year of college), a retord of high scholastic standing and a thorough knowledge of the language of the country in which they propose to study. They must have the ability to make friends easily, be vitally Interested in world affairs and possess an instinct for leader ship. Rotary. Unique Opportunity Rotary Foundation Fellow ships are unique in that, with nearly 11,000 Rotary clubs in more than 120 countries throughout the world, the student stu-dent is in direct contact- with Rotarian and their families duing his year away from home, no matter where he is study ing. He attends their Rotary meetings, visits in their homes and places of business, and travels tra-vels as much as possible dur ing his schol vacations. In this way, he sees at first hand how the people in his host country live, and through these close associations, he lays the essential essen-tial foundations for increased international understanding, which is one of Rotary's prin cipal objectives. Thorit C. Hebertson, retiring principal of the Geneva Gen-eva Elementary School, will be honored at a public reception nt'xt Wednesday afternoon and evening, May 31st, at the Geneva Gen-eva School in Orem. At this time all patrons of the school present, past and future as well as friends and associates of the Hebertson family from all over the State are Invited to attend. The time has been set from 2:30 p.m. un-; til 8:30 in the evening so that it will be within the time scope of everyone. While Mr. Hebertson has served the1 Geneva school as , its first and only principal for the past eleven years, his teaching career has extended throughout through-out Alpine School District, beginning be-ginning in 1921 at the Manila School. Since then he has been principal of the Lake View, Vineyard and Spencer schools. He has been active in the field of Military affairs, Church and community service and an Important Im-portant phase of his career has been in connection with the Utah State Leglsalture. All former students and pro fessional co-workers as well as military church and civic associates as-sociates are cordially invited to call and renew acquaintances' on this special occasion. Fire Chiefs Meet To Adopt Code The Fire Chiefs Council of Utah County have recommended recommend-ed to the county communities that they adopt a uniform Fire Prevention Code. ' A meeting will be held at the City and County Building, Pro-vo, Pro-vo, on Friday May 26, at 2 pm. The public is cordially invited. City Recreation Sponsors Dance And Art Classes Re-registration lor the dance classes sponsored by the city recreation and under the direction di-rection of Mrs. Irene Earl will be held Saturday May 27. The classes will run for another six weeks and a small fee will be charged for the lessons.
