Thom, of Wallace, Idaho, of the engagement -of their daughter, Miss Patricia Louise Williams, to David A. Chlstensen, son of President and Mrs. Ertmann H. Christtia-sen, Christtia-sen, of Pleasant Orove. The nuptials will be solemn-4zed solemn-4zed Satuuday, June 3, at the Mantl LDS Temple, in the presence1 pres-ence1 of relatives and close friends. The same evening at the Pleasant Grove First-Fifth Ward, they will be honored at an Open House to which all friends of the couple are invited. in-vited. No formal invitations will be cent. They will receive from 8 until 10. The b:ide-;lcct is a graduate of Wallace High School where she graduated as Valedictorian of he class. The future groom is a graiuatc of Pleasant Grove High School and LDS Seminary. Semin-ary. He filled a 22 Jfar LDS mission to Brazil and also filled a six-month service duty for his country. Both are active in music circles, and are Junior students at the BYU where they are? majoring in English and Soech Education. Positive Action For Youth The Boy Scouts of America to be congratulated on its posl tive action reflected in its theme, "Strengthen America Character Counts." : One of the most positive outgrowths out-growths of this program has been the development of Explor er Delegate Conferences for high school age youth through out the country. What better way to strengthen American than to have these young men who are standing on the edge of tomorrow meet and discuss social courtesies, hysical fitness, citizenship obligations, vocational exploration, outdoor adventure, and service oppor tunitles. Industrial leaders, educators, and professional men recognize Exploring as the most slgnlfl cant new program development on the high school level in this generation. The Utah National Parks Coin cil operating In this area reports that 1400 Explorers will partici pate in the Region 12 Explorer Conference at San Diego, Cali fornia, July 7-9. This will be a conference of youth, by youth, and for youth Explorers, chosen by fellow post members, traveled many miles to meet as steering committees. Adult advisors will be on the sidelines to give a hand when called upon. Nationally-know leaders will tppear on the program and busy executives will take time out to meet with these Explorers in their demonstrations and discus slons. Explorers will swap ideas, seek ing the best means to improve their ..own. programs and to achieve their purposes-how best to build, serve, and achieve for their communities and -America Out of the twelve such regional region-al meetings this year will come the planners for the first National Na-tional Explorer Delegate Confer ence to be held August 28-30, 1962, at the University of Mlchl gan at Ann Arbor. Fork Girl Weds in Texas Mr. and Mrs. Eugene R. Shaffer Shaf-fer of Orgn, Utah, announce the engagement of his daughter, Alma Virginia, to Joseph Mcclain Mc-clain Connally, Jr., son of Rev. and Mrs. J. M. Conally of Dallas, Texas. The wedding will take place on Saturday, June 17, J961, at the Kessler Park Methodist Church in Dallas. Alma, is the daughter of the late Marlon E. Shaffer and a graduate of the American Fork High School. Miss Shaffer is secretary to Dr. John A. Ouinn, President of the Texas Woman's University in Denton. She received her bach elor's degree from the Utah State University at Logan, Utah. Mr. Connally will receive his M. D. degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School In early June. He took his undergraduate training at the Southern Methodist Univer sity in Dallas. Citizen Want Ads Bring Fast Results Arlitra Guild Enjoys South American Experiences Mrs. William Walters and Mrs Hattie Kilfoil were Joint hostess es for the Arlitra Guild Club which met Monday night, May 22, at the Kilfoil home. The club prayer was read by Mrs. Walters and the remainder of the evening was turned over to Mrs. Frank H. Eastmond of Lehi, recently returned from a trip to South America, who took the group on a travelogue, point ing out the many places on a map that they visited while on their last trip. The places and customs were of great interest and some of the most interesting were Porto Rico, Uruguay, Beunos Aires, Luna and Mexico City. The evening eve-ning was one of fine enjoyment and the exeriences and pictures of Mrs. Eastmond's were delight ful. Homemade candy was served to sixteen members present, at the close of the meeting. Clubs and Socials Sisters Club The Sisters Club met at the home of Venetta Adams of Lehi Tuesday, May 23,- honoring two of the sisters whose birthdays have occurred this month; Millie Newbold, Riverton, and Winnie Reld, American Fork. Both lad ies were presented with lovely gifts. The group visited an antique shop in Orem and dined at Park's Cafe returning to view the beautiful Iris Garden at the home of Luclnda Barratt and then on to Lehi where they en oyed a trip through Hutchlngs Museum. The return trip to the Adams home brought refresh ments and some visiting. Others present beside the hon ored members were: Vlda Cook, Pleasant Grove; Luclnda Barratt and Pearl Boulter. American Fork; and special guest Nora Cook, Pleasant Grove , and .. the hostess.
