Cancer Clinic Set Saturday The American Cancer Society, Utah Division, In cooperation with Salt Lake County Medical Society, has scheduled a pancer Symptom Center to be held on September 21st at Division Head quarters, 176 Social Hall Avenue, Salt Lake City. Registration will be held on September 16th and 19th from 9 a.m. to 4 pjm. Only those persons who register can be examined at the Center. In making this annottnement the Cancer Society and the Salt Lake Medical Society wish to point out that In order to be eligible for examination all applicants ap-plicants must bring . a written referral from any doctor consulted con-sulted by them In the past year. As the name indicates, complete examinations are not given but are directed at only those areas of the body where ... cancer is thought to exist. One of the most colorful horse shows to be presented , in the lntermountaln area is promised fair visitors by officials of the Salt Lake Horse Show Assocla tlon. More than a million dollars In horseflesh with champion riders from ten states will appear In the ring during the Utah State Fair Horse Show scheduled for four nightly performances, be ginning September 21 at 8 p. m. Ralph L. Jones, re-appointed by the Horse Show Association to manage the 1955 Horse Show said that entries have been, re ceived from Texas, " Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Ida ho and Utah. The National Cutting Horse Contest brought to Utah for the first time last year will again be repeated with larger purses and an increased number of compet lng- champions, Mr. Jones said. Many new features are plan ned for the show with a pro gram of events to include child ren and teenagers as well as the nationally known professionals. f Performing for the spectators will be Shetland pomes, Arabian costumed horses, Hackney pon ies, : Tennessee Walking Horses. Meet Called For Sat In Spanish Fork Annual fall convention of the American Legion and Auxiliary District 4, has been called for Saturday at 8 p. m., in Spanish Fork, it was reported today by Kay W. Morton, commander of Post , 49. The meeting will be held in thtt new Veterans Memorial Mem-orial building on Main Street. Speakers will be Department Commander H. C. Tasker, Oreen River, and Department President Presi-dent Lucy Larson, Magna, who have Just returned from the National Na-tional convention held in Miami, Florida. They will present the program for the coming year as given to them at the Florida meet. ' , j .. Commander Morton and Delia Smith, Auxiliary president, are inviting all members of the post and unit to participate in the meet. . ., ... a Junior Bowlers Off to Good Start Seventeen enthusiastic youthful youth-ful bowlers were taken to Provo Saturday where they showed unusual un-usual skill In handling the ten pins. According to the Junior Chamber .Youth Activity chairman, chair-man, the boys really caught on and big things can be expected of them as they Improve. There is still room for more bowlers to round out the league and the chairman would like to encourage more girls to sign up. According to the pros, the gals can really give the boys a run for their money. Parents of the young' people are also invited to go along to help cheer their , kids to victory.
