Clubs and Socials Mrs. Ray E..Monson entertained entertain-ed Monday in honor of the 9th birthday of her daughter, Irene. The luncheon table held an attractive at-tractive bowl of fall flowers and favors were small American flags. Luncheon was served to Carol Roberts, LaRue Frandsen, Cleo Smith, Charlene Ritchie, Carol Brown, Aria Boley, Colleen Hatch, Lela May Lee, Glenda Wall, Linda Hall, Martha Hoelscher, Ann Christensen, Mary Alice and Mar-lene Mar-lene Monson. Local Items Mrs. Wayne Wilcox of El-Monte, El-Monte, ,Cal., visited Sunday with her mother-in-law, Mrs. Heber Barratt. Mrs. Ida Booth Carey and Mrs. B. I. C. Norton of San Francisco arrived here Sunday for a visit of two weeks with their mother, Mrs. Robert E. Booth. Mrs. Boyd Phillips and children of Salt Lake City spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Green are visiting this week In Durango, Colo., with their daughter, Mrs. J. W. Freed (Mildred) and family. Mrs. Wayne Taylor (Dorothy Adamson) and children, Louis and Janet, arrived here Monday for an indefinite visit with Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Adamson. Mrs. Margaret Orr of Salt Lake City spent last week visiting with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen F. Beck and family. Mrs. Thomas Hansen and Miss Lorraine Hansen of American, Fork, Miss Roxie Russon of Lehi. and Miss Stella Barton of Pleas-1 ant Grove left Tuesday night by1 bus for Phoenix, Arizona, where they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. James B. Thomson and attended the wedding reception of Miss Li-la Li-la Thomson on September 14. The lawn at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Grant has been the scene of two lovely parties j for First ward members during the past week. Sunday evening following church most of the attendants at-tendants went to Grants where a short program was given" and watermelon served to over 100 j persons. Tuesday evening the MIA held opening exercises at the chapel and thtn adjourned to the Grant home for a bonfire party, games and rilreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Holin-drake Holin-drake and Mr. and Mrs. Orval S. Brown visited at the Holy Cross Hospital Sunday with Mrs. Glen Oler of Salt Lake City and her new baby. On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Brown returned to their home in Gandy. They were accompanied ac-companied by Mr. Holindrake who will remain for the week. Mrs. Mary E. Abel and Mrs. Russell Thompson returned home Saturday after spending two weeks in Arizona visiting with the family of the late James E. Shelley. They were in Joseph City, Heber, Holbrook and Wins-low Wins-low and were extensively entertained enter-tained during their stay. Junius Blackford Reynolds received re-ceived the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was among ten students who graduated with high honors and : was also elected to the honor so-! so-! clety of Phi Kappa Phi. i Mr. Reynolds is a cousin of ,James Arthur McAllister who graduated the same day with the i degree of Doctor of Medicine. ! Dr. McAllister was also commis-isioned commis-isioned a lieutenant (J. g.) in the Medical Corps of the United i States Naval Reserve, j Reed Julian Parker received the degree of Bachelor of Science i and was elected to the Phi Beta : Kappa honor Society. College-Going Hospital Note Mrs. Irvin Johnson (La Vee Zabriskie) is the mother of a daughter born September 10. The husband and father, Cpl. Johnson is stationed at Camp Barkley, ; Texas. Mm Mr. and Mrs. Milo Bean were hosts Tuesday evening at dinner to Dr. and Mrs. C. S. Boyle of Cheyenne, Wyo., and their son, Lieutenant Mark Boyle and his wife of Provo, and Mr. C. S. Lar-sen Lar-sen of Price. Lieut. Boyle has Just returned from 18 months in England where he has been a fighter pilot. The evening was spent in visiting and listening to his experiences. Mrs. V. Arthur Gordon and son Steven have returned to their home in Long Beach, Calif., after spending three weeks with Mrs. Gordon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Walker. Also visiting at the Walker home last week were Mrs. W. B. Walker and daughter Lucille Lu-cille of Twirf Falls, Idaho.
