CLUBS AND SOCIALS Ladies Literary Club A review of the opera "Carmen" "Car-men" by Mrs. Frank Shaw of Lchl featured the meeting of the Ladles Literary Club on Thursday Thurs-day of last week. Mrs. Shaw gave a brief sketch of the life of the French composer, George Bizet, who wrote "Carmen" and also told of the difference In composition of light and grand opera. Several recordings, both vocal and orchestra numbers from the opera, were played. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. W. R. Halllday with Mrs. Hans Chrlstensen assisting as-sisting hostess. Abel and Mrs. Dean Webb attended a bridge luncheon in Salt Lake City on Monday given at the home of Mrs. J. R. McNalr. Mrs. Esther Williams of Hill City, Idaho, spent the past two weeks visiting with Mrs. Olen Williams. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Crookston were Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Moyle and children and Robert A. Hunter of Alpine and Miss Barbara Hunter of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson and children of Park City, and Mrs. Mary Orgill of Heber spent Sunday Sun-day visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Nelson. Mrs. Ed Tuttle spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Salt Lake City visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Niel Murdock, and her aunt, Mrs. Joseph Johnston. - Mr. and Mrs.' Ted Tomllnson of Layton visited over the weekend week-end with Mrs. Tomllnson 's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Lynch. Mrs. Orin Ashton, Mrs. O. H. Gordon and Miss Donna Gordon spent Saturday in Murray with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gordon and family. Mrs. Warren C. Boley, Mrs. William Brown Ingersoll and Mrs. Val Johner of Salt Lake City visited in town on 8unday. Mrs. Ingersoll expects to leave for her home In Washington, D. C. this week-end. Games were played with prizes being awarded to Mrs. Mary Myers, Mrs. Thomas Binns and Mr. Hvrum Larsen. The assembled friends presented Mrs. Jerlmg with a handsome forewell gift. A delicious lunch was served late in the evening. Thimble Club Mrs. Myron R. Moyle was hostess hos-tess to the members of the Thimble Thim-ble Club at her home last Friday Fri-day evening. Special guests were Mrs. Walter Hansen, Mrs. Lola May and Miss Idella Wood of Grace, Idaho. The time was spent In needle work. Light refreshments re-freshments were served to 14 guests. FeaUty Club Feality Club members were guests of Mrs. LaDrew Varney last Thursday afternoon. Three tables were in progress with prizes for high score going to Mrs. Ray Pinkerton, the guest prize to Mrs. Clyde Blrk and the consolation favor to Mrs. Gilbert Gil-bert Shumway. Special guests were Mrs. Blrk, Mrs. Floyd Love-ridge, Love-ridge, Mrs. K. Morton and Mrs. Marion Mercer. Sorosis Club The Sorosis Club will meet Friday (today) at 3 o'clock with Mrs. Lillle Wilde as hostess. With Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ritchie of Provo the complimented compli-mented guests, Mrs. Edward R. Tuttle entertained at dinner on Sunday. A centerpiece of roses and snapdragons was used on the dinner table where covers were laid lor eight. Junior Ladies Literary Club Mrs. Bernard Storrs was hostess hos-tess to the Junior Ladles Literary Liter-ary Club for their Initial meeting meet-ing of the season last Monday evening. A profusion of beautiful fall flowers were used in the entertaining enter-taining rooms. The dining table held a doll in formal dress standing stand-ing in a bed of asters and extending ex-tending from the dress skirt were ribbons to which were attached at-tached tiny envelopes containing the names of the secret pal for the coming year. The evening was spent playing games with prizes being awarded to Mrs. Harold Ramsay, Mrs. La-Vere La-Vere Wadley and Mrs. Eldon Miller. Assisting Mrs. Storrs in entertaining enter-taining were the officers of the club. Mrs. Georee Scott. Mrs Marion Green, Mrs. Clare Chrls tensen, and Miss Lillle Shatter. In honor of Ac Leon L.
