In figuring heating costs, too, you want to see the whole program not just part of it nphe short comedy may be all right, but it's only part of the program. In the same way, your house-heating bill is only part of your entire household expense. Ifs the total that counts. For example: Suppose you are not now using Gas for house-heating, and the fuel you are using costs you about $48 a year. All right now, what does it cost you for cooking, water-heating and refrigeration? Let's say $6 a month, or $72 a year. That's a fan-average. fan-average. So your total costs for the four jobs would ' be--$48" plus $72, or $120 -an average of $10 a month. Suppose, now, that you use Gas for all four jobs. Your Gas bill, then, will not be just a heating bill It will actually be four bills in one . . . and, based on the experience of others, it will be less than $10 a month on the average. Consequently, by using complete com-plete Gas service, you can save money. Such economy is made possible by the sliding slid-ing scale for Gas rates. ' Canada Harvests Large Wheat Crop With a carryover of some 300 million bushels, the Canadian farm ers this last spring seeded an addi tional 2 million acres of wheat. Here's the result: A 1940 crop of more than 500 million bushels of wheat. A carryover of around 300 million bushels of wheat. Commercial storage space for 380 million bushels. A total supply of more than 800 million bushels and room to store only a little more than a third of that. A prospect of a billion bushels supply sup-ply in 1941 with a market for 300,-000,000 300,-000,000 bushels. The Canadian farmers are marketing mar-keting under a quota which allows them to sell eight bushels of wheat from each acre. Yields have been running as high as 50 bushels per acre. All wheat in excess of the eight bushels must be held on the farm. There is no market for it. So Canadian farmers are piling it loose on the ground. Greatness Nothing can be great which is not right.
