Show Citizen Wednesday, November 8, 1995 - Page 5 Open house will honor Williamses for golden Dwaine F. and Lorraine Williams will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Timpanogos Park 7th Ward, 990 N. 100 West, Orem. Dwaine was born in Vineyard in 1921. He attended Pleasant Grove and Orem schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in Orem in 1939. He enlisted in the Utah National Guard in May of 1939 and was activated in March 1942 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor with the declaration of World War II. He was released October 1945. He worked for several construction construc-tion companies within the state of Utah building such things as the aqueduct in Provo Canyon and along the Wasatch Front. He also worked on the American Canal in Arizona. While employed by Oakland Construction he helped with several of the buildings on the BYU campus. In 1960, he went to work for Florence Viklund Florence Viklund to mark 90th Florence Marie Kolstad Viklund will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house held in her honor on Saturday, Nov 11, between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. at the Mountainville Church (red church), 165 N. 100 East, Alpine. She requests no gifts. She was born Nov. 14, 1905 in Alpine, the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Healey. She is the youngest of seven children and is the only one left of her family. She married Harold. D. Kolstad on March 25, 1931 in Long Beach, Calif., where she was working at the time. They lived in Compton, Calif, for several years before moving mov-ing to Utah. After the death of her husband on May 17, 1961, she met and married mar-ried Victor P. Viklund on Jan. 6, 1967. He died on Nov. 10, 1984. She has lived in Lindon for the past 29 years. She has worked at various jobs most of her life and retired from the Utah State Developmental Center, after working there for 20 years. For over 50 years, she has been a dedicated visiting teacher in the LDS Church, which she is still doing. She enjoyed singing in the ward choir. One of the highlights she likes to remember is having the opportunity to sing in the Salt Lake Tabernacle with the Relief Society Chorus. While she was married to Victor they had the opportunity to do temple work together. Her children are Edgar H. (Leah) Kolstad, Carmichael, Calif; Mrs. Joan (Elvin) Healey, Alpine. Another daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Volkman, is deceased. Her stepchildren are Ray (Dee) Viklund, Kernville, Calif.; Mrs. Helen (Boyd) Warnick, Taylorsville; and Mrs. Mary McKay of Pleasant Grove. Two step-children, Ina Buckner and Glen Viklund, are deceased. She has 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 22 step-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; 47 step-greatgrandchildren; and nine step-great-great-grandchildren. Workshop set for television control Parents and families are invited invit-ed to "Take Charge of Your TV," with help from a workshop sponsored spon-sored by the Mountain Ridge Junior High School PTSA and the Family Life Commission, in conjunction con-junction with Family Week. It will be held Thursday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the school. Anyone over 12 is invited to attend the workshop. The Family and Community Critical Viewing Project was created creat-ed by the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) and the cable industry's educational initiative, Cable in the Classroom. They will teach techniques for setting rules for television viewing and sticking to those rules, recognizing recog-nizing the ways television can be used to manipulate viewers, talking talk-ing to children about violence on television, and turning what is on television into positive and educational educa-tional family discussions. She went to school in American Fork, graduating from American Fork High School in 1941. She went to work for U.S. Steel Geneva during World War II. After the war, Dwaine and Lorraine were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Nov. 13, 1945. She remained at home raising their family. She then entered the work force employed by Bayly's Manufacturing in Pleasant Grove. She also was employed by Alpine School District for many years in their school lunch program. Lorraine has held positions in the YWMIA presidencies and as Sunday School secretary. They have enjoyed spending the winter months as snowbirds with their many friends in Quartzite, Ariz. Their children are: Lynn (Pat) Williams, Shirleen (Dick) Allen, Annella (Mike) Carter, all of Orem; Tom (Carol) Williams, American Fork.
