State 801-802-7234 qqctqb? Doris Coates Ix-wis, our beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, grand-mother, daughter, and sister joined her Father in Heaven on Sat. July 29, 2IKI7 at 4:15 pm. Doris was born May 14, 17 in Gunnison, Gun-nison, Utah to Kex biuis Coates and Aleda Matilda Jensen. She married Dan L Monson of U'hj on Mar 22, 1955 and had 4 children, loiter in the spring of "69" she married Richard (Dick) Neil Ix'wis and they remained together until her time of passing. Doris was an educator for 31 years and along with others, was partly responsible for pioneering the Head Start Program. Also to the thousands of people she helped get a high school diploma, she was fondly known as "The G.E.D. Iidy". Doris was also an avid out-drxirs out-drxirs person who enjoyed hunting, hunt-ing, camping, fourwheeling, and Geraldine Sadie Geraldine Brown Goff, 85, passed away July 2(i, 2007 in Price, Utah. Born August 5, 1921 to William Alonzo and Agatha Viola Flathers Brown, (jeri married Warren Groves Goff on January 24, 1941 in WixkIs Cross, Utah. During WWII she worked at the ()gden Arsenal. She retired from Bayly's Manufacturing. She was an active memter of FOE 3372 and VFW Women's Auxiliary 4918. She loved to crochet and quilt. She loved to worry about her family especially her grandkids playing in the streets. She made her home in American Fork for 45 years. Survived by her 2 daughters: Betty (Ken) Okerlund, Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada; Dorothy (Ron Prettyman) Diamond, Superior, Supe-rior, Wyoming; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2007 at the American Fork Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Dick Iewis and her 4 children, Kelly Dan Monson (Shauna) of Lehi; Cindy (Tom) Ruckman of American Fork; Dale Rex Monson (Michele) of Provo; and Brent L. (Tresa) Monson of Lehi; her sisters Vera (Bruce) Goodwin of Pleasant Grove; Donna (Fred) Paskett of Provo; her mother, Aleda Coates of Gunnison, Utah, Richard N. (Kay) Lewis, Sherry Lewis and Kyle Lewis and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her late husband hus-band Dan Monson, her father Rex Coates, her grandson Cole Ruck-man Ruck-man and her nephew Travis Allen and Dan Lewis. She will be sincerely missed and loved by all who knew this wonderful woman. Author-Shirley Scown November 1, 1925-July 13, 2007 - Norman D. Scown, (Champ) was born in Lehi, Utah to Norman Nor-man and Alta Fox Scown, as the oldest old-est of seven brothers and sisters. He attended Lehi High School and in his senior year ( 1944) enlisted in the United States Navy. He served during World War II in the Pacific and saw action ac-tion on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After the war, Norm returned to Lehi and began working at the Salt Lake City Airport for United Airlines, there he met his future wife, Shirley Smith, who also worked for United. They were married in 1949. After a short time in Salt Lake City; they built their home in Lehi where they lived for 48 years. There they raised their three children chil-dren Dave, Mike and Cathy. Norm retired from United Airlines Air-lines after forty -one years and he and Shirley began an active, fun-filled fun-filled retirement. They enjoyed their family-built summer cabin at Scofield Reservoir and traveled trav-eled much of the United States. They celebrated their 50th anniversary an-niversary on a tour of the British Isles. But best of all, they loved their trailer time, camping many places throughout the western U.S. They were particularly fond of Mayflower County Park in Lydia O. Kirkpatrick Hallsey Lydia O. Kirkpatrick Hallsey, played softly the final chords of her mortal music on July 27, 2007. Lydia was born in 1916 to Alma Jacob Olsen and Harriet Luella Storrs. She immediately imme-diately took up residence on 300 West in American Fork; she lived on that same street her entire life. In 1938 Lydia married Wendell W. Kirkpatrick in the Salt Lake Temple. They have 3 sons; Paul (Karen) of Lehi, Bill (Margo) of Alpine and Bob (Nan) of American Ameri-can Fork. Wendell died in 1992. In 1993 Lydia married Floyd Hallsey; he died six years later in 1999. From the 3 sons, there are 8 grand children and 28 great grandchildren. At a very early age, Lydia took up the piano. She then spent the remainder of her life using music as a medium to serve the residents of American Fork. In 1998 they moved from Lehi to a condo in Salt Lake City, that their son David remodeled for them, a home they loved. Norm was active for many years in the American Legion, Post 19 in Lehi as well as the United Airlines Air-lines Retirees group in Salt Lake. Norman was the hardest working man his family has ever seen. He was fiercely independent and lived life on his terms. He had been so healthy his entire life that his death was a great shock to family fam-ily and friends. He missed only 6 days sick in 41 years at United Airlines. He was a rock and his family will miss him. Norman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley; sons, David D. and Michael S. Scown; daughter, daugh-ter, Catherine Scown Christof-ferson; Christof-ferson; former daughter-in-law, Susan Sundstrom and grandson, Simon Russell Scown; brothers, broth-ers, LaMar Scown (LaRetta), Overland Park, KS, Paul Scown (Edith); sisters, Gloria Finch (Dennis), Elaine MacLean (John), Rosalie Seamons (Fred) and sister-in-law, Melba Scown (Vince). He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Vincent. Graveside Services were held at the Lehi City Cemetery on July 20, 2007. Our gratitude and many thanks to the wonderful doctors and staff at St. Marks Hospital who truly serve with their hearts. literally hundreds of students over a period of more than 20 years. She was also a professional music teacher at the Utah State Training School for many years. She was an active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has served as a Temple organist at both the Provo and Mt. Timpanogos Temples. In 1970 Lydia received the Teacher of the Year award from the State Training School. She has also been named the KSL Teacher of the Day, the Educator of the Handicapped for 1982, and was QGrand Marshall of the Steel Days Parade in 1998. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the kind people peo-ple at Greenwood Assisted Living in Lehi and Hospice Comfort Care. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday Tues-day July 31, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest Stake Center 165 No. 350 West Am. Fork.
