Violet was born on April 9, 1913 in Hurricane, Hur-ricane, UT, the fourth of nine children of Joseph Walter and Nettie Ann Sanders Spendlove. Even though she had many chores, Violet enjoyed family fam-ily life. It was especially fun with double cousins living next door. She liked school, especially English and reading read-ing and progressed at an accelerated accelerat-ed rate, graduating from Hurricane High School a year early in 1930. Violet wasresident of her senior class and was editor of the yearbook year-book her junior and senior years. Violet attended Dixie College on a scholarship and worked as a housekeeper and cook for her room and board. She was editor of the yearbook in 1932, the same year she graduated with a teaching certificate. cer-tificate. She taught grades 14 on a one-room schoolhouse in Gunlock for two years. Violet married LuWayne Wood, also of Hurricane, in Las Vegas on May 26, 1935. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple. They became the parents of five children. After 68 years of marriage, LuWayne died on December De-cember 16, 2003. Violet and LuWayne made their first home in Boulder City, Nevada, where LuWayne began a 41-year career with the Southern California Edison Company. His job took them to Big Creek, California in 1949 and on to Arcadia, California in 1959. After retirement, Violet and LuWayne returned to southern Utah in 1979, settling in St. George. They traveled extensively throughout through-out the world. Violet was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints. Her church callings included in-cluded teaching in most of the auxiliaries aux-iliaries and serving as president of Relief Society, Primary, and Young Women's MIA. Violet and LuWayne Lu-Wayne were ordinance workers at the ST. George Temple for 10 years. She served as a school board member for two terms as well as a Girl Scout leader during their years in Big Creek. Violet was always refined in her dress, carriage, and speech. She loved reading and poetry. po-etry. She was a member of the Alice Al-ice Reynolds Book Club. While in her eighties, she read every volume of Will Durrants History of the World. Violet was a beautiful seamstress, seam-stress, meticulous housekeeper, and marvelous cook. She shared her talents tal-ents and her love in so many ways. Violet is survived by her children, chil-dren, Dr. O. Lew Wood (Yvonne), of Murray, Utah, Sylvia Sawyer (Mel), of Orem, Utah, Roberta Ju-gant Ju-gant (Gerard), of Palo Alto, California, Califor-nia, and Douglas Wood (Barbara), of Orem, Utah; her siblings Cliff Spendlove (Jan) and France Spendlove Spend-love (Dorothy), all of Hurricane, Utah, and Mary Gibson (Mads), of Boulder City, Nevada. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded pre-ceded in death by her husband, LuWayne; Lu-Wayne; her daughter, Sandra,; her brothers Jack, Jim, and Ray Spendlove: Spend-love: her sisters, Annie and Clara; and her grandson, Blaine Wood. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the caregivers who were so kind and considerate during the final months of Violet's life. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the St. George 4th Ward Chapel, 440 S. 300 E., St. George. Interment was the same day at the Hurricane City Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Sund-berg Sund-berg Olpin Mortuary, Orem, UT. 1 ' - mm Y Harvey Eugene Smith, our loving lov-ing dad, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully peace-fully at his home in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove at the age of 88. He was born June 1, 1917 in Pleasant Grove to George Le-Roy Le-Roy and Avis Mills Smith. He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, attended BYU, and graduated from the Idaho State College of Pharmacy Phar-macy in 1938. He returned home to marry his high school sweetheart Josephine Farr in the Salt Lake Temple on June 20, 1938. They cherished 60 beautiful years together togeth-er and are now sweetly reunited for eternity. Harvey not only lived in, but also loved his community. He served as Mayor of Pleasant Grove at the young age of 30 and was an avid supporter of Strawberry Days throughout his life. Harvey served as the President of the Alpine School Board and Utah State School Board Association. He was on the Board of Directors of the National School Board Association. He owned and operated Smith Drug in Pleasant Grove for most of his life. Harvey was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served tip as Bishop of the Manila Ward, as a Patriarch in the Grovecreek and Northfield Stakes, and a Sealer in the Provo Temple. Harvey enjoyed doing things with and for his family. He raised registered reg-istered quarter horses and enjoyed en-joyed the companionships com-panionships of many special dogs. He loved the outdoors, fishing, fish-ing, hunting, BYU Athletics, and the National Finals Rodeo. He is survived by four children: Craig and Linda Smith, Pleasant Grove; Sheryl and Jerry Harris, Burbank, WA; Jolynne and Mark Goodman, Pleasant Grove; Suzanne and Brent Keetch, Pleasant Grove; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and brother, Don and Betty Smith, Pleasant Grove. His wife, Josephine and his brother, Richard, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 13, 2005 in the Northfield Third Ward Chapel, 2155 North 100 East, Pleasant Grove. Harold was born August 3, 1952 in American Ameri-can Fork, Utah the son of Leland Pulley and Evelyn Merikofer Wimmer He married Jennifer Jen-nifer Lynn Anderson May 2. 1975 Thev were later divorced. He married mar-ried Ruth Eecles June 23, 2001 in Ixgan, Utah. He grew up in American Fork. Utah and graduated from American Fork High School and LDS Seminary Semi-nary in 1970, where he was active in sports including football, basketball basket-ball and track. He was a member of the debate team and student government. gov-ernment. He was vice president of the student body his senior year. He was a member of the American Fork High School Marching Band, He attended the University of Utah after graduation on a full leadership scholarship. He was a member of the LDS Church, was an Eagle Scout, received re-ceived his Duty to God Award. 1 le served a mission in the Southwest Indian(Navajo) Mission 1971to 1973. He served his country in the Utah National Guard. He was a member of the 1457 Engineer Bat talion in American Fork, Utah He did his specialized training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His life work was a self -employed business man always working work-ing with people He had a zest for life. He made people smile from the inside. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh He lived for his spou.se, children and grandchildren. They were the joy of his life. 1 le loved to travel. He loved the ocean and scuba diving. div-ing. He had an amazing mind lor inventing things. There is no way too possible describe how incredible a man he was.
