She packed some chocolate chip cookies in her husband's lunch and was distracted when a mouse grabbed a piece of cookie that had been dropx-d She had also been baking muffias for breakfast and set them on the shelf to cool A moose took a bit from them and burned his mouth. He raised his head and got his antlers caught in the blades of the ceiling fan. He was propelled pro-pelled through the roof and came back down, smashing the table and sending the book through the hole in the roof. "Hours later after dealing with mouse, moose, and mess, the phone rang It was a Koyal Canadian Mounted Policeman from Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Saskatch-ewan, (Canada, to say my library book had landed in a pine tree just past the I AW (iJefeasive Early Warning) line." "So you see, if you give a mouse a cookie, and you give a moose a muf- I slipped on the wet kitchen floor and hit my head, knocking me unconscious for three days." Zachariah Stone f iRST PLACE ADULT WINNER, IN HIS ESSAY fin, your library book will end up past DIJW." Stone's entry outlined an unusual set of circumstances which started out with a golfer hitting a vehicle's window. Many other events ensued, finishing at Stone's home. "This made my toilet overflow, which flooded my kitchen," he wrote. "I slipped on the wet kitchen floor and hit my head, knocking me unconscious for three days." He asked that he be allowed to check the book out again. "The book is entitled 'Weird Coincidences Coinci-dences and Freaky Chain Reactions' by author Dom Minnow." Streeter's submission outlined the story of a book returned 117 years overdue. Her father used the book to steady a wobbly kitchen table for 83 years. "On his deathbed my father's conscience con-science surfaced leaving me a charge to return the book with the proper fee. 1 agreed," she wrote. Unfortunately, she was arrested and spent 34 years with her father's estate locked and untouched. When she was released, she determined to return the book with the $7,713 fee. "Since this book has been out of circulation cir-culation for the past 117 years, I offer a sincere apology for any inconvenience it might have caused the library staff or anyone wanting to read it," she wrote. The library staff waived the fees and returned the $7,713 to the bank which had been recently robbed for that exact ex-act amount. Samantha's story includes her dropping drop-ping the book and a bluebird picking it up. She chased it to several locations, but finally returned to the library where she took the book in. "The librarian said, 'Why are you late?' "I asked how late I was and she said an hour. I was shocked and told her my story but she said, 'Maybe you've been reading too many books.'
