Center. He noticed a faint odor of maryuana in the car and asked the 22-year-old driver to explain its presence. The man admitted to "smoking "smok-ing a bowl" earlier in the day but stated that he had no drugs with him in the car now. When Officer Martinez said he was going to check anyway, the man said, "Oh! Well, perhaps I do have a little lit-tle marijuana in my pocket and in the trunk". Officer Art Lopez arrived to assist with his dog, Zorro. 3.5 grams were taken from the man's pant pocket and another 13 grams were found inside a backpack in the trunk. Zorro found other items of drug paraphernalia inside the car. The man was issued a misdemeanor misde-meanor summons for possession, posses-sion, of marijuana and paraphernalia para-phernalia in a drug-free zone - he got a warning on the traffic traf-fic violation. Officer Alan Warenski was patrolling businesses on State Street early this morning morn-ing 3:30 AM and found a bay door standing wide open and the main door unlocked at a business in the area of 900 North. No one was around. Fortunately, the ppen bay door, with a number of small sized 4-wheelers in crates, was not visible from State Street or there may have been no 4-wheelers left inside the business. Officer Warenski tried to locate the owner listed list-ed on city business files by phone, but had no luck. An officer even went to the owner's listed address, but found it to be an unoccupied apartment. In the end, Officer Warenski locked the business up as best he could and we'll check with the business busi-ness owners this morning to update our files and let them know what happened.. 42904 Sometime Monday night a thief broke into Spinal Rehab Specialists, a business located at 1704 S. State. Entry was made through the front door and a cash box was stolen. A man from Payson came to Orem yesterday to shop at Old Navy. He neglected to lock his car door while shopping shop-ping and a thief got into the man's car and stole an MP3 player, a cell phone, a CD player, and computer speakers. speak-ers. 43004 Officer and paramedics were summoned early this morning (3:30 AM) to a home in the area of 400 W. Center on a report of a 21-year-old man who had overdosed on Heroin. The man was taken by paramedics to Timpanogos Hospital where he was pronounced pro-nounced dead. There was evidence evi-dence of drug use and a syringe was found underneath under-neath his body. According to his folks, he overdosed a week ago and was taken to a hospital hospi-tal in another city. When he got out of the hospital, he came to live with his parents. It was at their home that this took place this morning. 5304 Officer Steven Norman stopped a car early Saturday morning in the area of 100 S. Orem Blvd. for a traffic violation. viola-tion. A 26-year-old man, of Springville, was in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana and was arrested for possession. A car was broken into sometime Friday night in the area of 200 W. 300 S. 90 CDs and the CD player were stolen. 5404 Perhaps it was the heat, or maybe the full moon, that triggered weirdness in people last night. There were a number num-ber of family fights, harassment harass-ment calls, and threat reports that officers handled. People calling to threaten those who owe them money, harassing victims who had "done them wrong". There was even a case reported of a complete stranger standing in front of someone's home on squirting the house with a garden hose while yelling at the occidental occupant in an oriental language. lan-guage. That guy was gone by the time the officers arrived. An 8-year-old girl was hit by a car yesterday morning (8:45 AM) as she crossed the road to go into Sharon Elementary School at 525 N. 400 E. The girl's mother dropped the 8-year-old off across the street and watched as her daughter stepped into the crosswalk and was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver was described as a white female in her mid-30's, with shoulder length blonde hair, and driving a newer-model, newer-model, brown or gold mini van. The blow was a glancing one that spun the little girl around and injured her hand and left side of her face. The woman in the van slowed down long enough to yell "I'm sorry" out the window and then sped away. The little girl was treated by Orem paramedics para-medics for scrapes, bruises, and a fat hp. If anyone has information about the woman driving the mini van, please contact Officer Kirk Denning at 229-7079. A father and son were taken to Timpanogos hospital yesterday afternoon (5:00 PM) after being involved in a roll over accident at 800 N. 100 W. The SUV they were traveling in was broad sided by another vehicle at that intersection and rolled the SUV over onto its side. Luckily, injuries weren't too serious. It did cause some problems for people trying to use eastbound 800 N. for their commute home. Officer Darrell Bingham contacted a 31-year-old Orem man early this morning walking walk-ing around his neighborhood in the area of 400 N. 500West. The man appeared to be under the influence of a drug and had a knife, with a 10" blade, tucked up his shirt sleeve. The officer took his knife and cited him for carrying carry-ing a concealed, dangerous weapon. The man said he was carrying the knife for protection protec-tion from those who had made threats against his life. He appeared to possibly be suffering suf-fering from a drug-induced paranoia. He was released to go back into his home. Mstaas UgMs v - -"in. ft i,t ' ;uD .. f i ,tjs. t Tt r V '-v V. Money for Christmas lights...
