IHC donates $25,000 to UV Utah Valley State College's Department of Nursing is getting a boost in its ability to train future health care professionals thanks to a $25,000 donation dona-tion from Intermountain Health Care. "This donation fulfills two purposes," said Gail McGuill, chief nurse executive exec-utive fro the IHC hospitals in Utah County. "It helps provide more graduates to work in Utah's hospitals and clinics and it is part of IHC's mission of community communi-ty service. This is one way IHC will be able to make a positive difference in the quality of our local health care." The donations to UVSC is part of $255,000 IHC is donating to colleges and universities across Utah. Other programs included on the donation list include Brigham Young University, The University of Utah, Weber State, Dixie State, Salt Lake Community College and the College of Easter Utah. "The nursing faculty at UVSC have been creative and energetic in their efforts to prepare nurses to meet the needs of the community and to maximize maxi-mize the number of students stu-dents we educate," said Alene Harrison, associate dean and director of the department of nursing. "The funds donated by IHC will be used to establish estab-lish a faculty development that will provide financial assistance to faculty who are pursuing doctoral degrees, doing clinical research, giving presentations presenta-tions at national conferences, confer-ences, or taking courses to advance their skills in new techniques in nursing. This faculty training is crucial to the success of our students. Our faculty will be teaching the most current nursing practices." "UVSC's nursing program pro-gram enjoys an excellent collaborative relationship with IHC. The clinic practice prac-tice that students receive at health care facilities, including IHC facilities, is a critical part of our educational educa-tional program. The close working relationship between II IC and UVSC has allowed us to increase the number of graduates in recent semesters," Harrison said. UVSC offers an associate associ-ate of science in nursing and a bachelor degree in nursing for registered nurses. IHC's donation continues a history of support sup-port given to the training of local nursing students. UVSC's instructional capabilities have been greatly enhanced by IHC's generosity. !ASY TO CLEAN LIFETIME WARRANTY Guaranteed Low Price f A - G Call For Details It. i lr(j wM, inc. V.
