The announcement announce-ment was made today at the conclusion of the association's asso-ciation's 94th Annual Convention. Hal J. Allen, President and CEO of Capital V t Community Bank, Provo was elected Chairman, of the association which represents rep-resents the banking industry indus-try of Utah. Rick W. Anderson, Executive Vice President and Chief CFO of Far West Bank, Provo, has been associated with the bank ' ' ? i, since 1978. Randy Hoyt, President of Western Community Bank, was the co-founder of Western Community Bank in Orem. He previously previ-ously was with Desert Bank in Pleasant Grove. . Allen Chairman The Utah Bankers Association bestowed its highest honor, "The Distinguished Banker Award," on J. Brent Packard, Chairman of the Board of Central Bank, in recognition of his active leadership in Utah's community com-munity banking industry and his many years of community service. The presentation was made at the Association's 95th Annual Convention. Brent Packard is the fourth generation of Packards to lead Central Bank which was founded in Springville Banking Company in 1891 and merged with State Bank of Provo in 19G6 to become Central Bank. '.: Brent Packard Brent Packard began his banking career in 1964 as a teller, and held a number num-ber of positions until becoming Executive Vice President in 1973. He was named President and Chief Administrative Officer in 1994 and assumed the role of Chairman of the Board in 2001. He has been a life-long resident of Springville and an active member of the Utah County community. He was president of the Westside PTA, an officer in the Kiwanis Club, and a board member of the Provo Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Bankers Association. While he is known by many as a banker, he also has a reputation as an astute weatherman. Edward Jones Partner Elected Vice Chairman U.S. Chamber of Commerce Edward Jones Managing Partner John Bachmann was elected by the United States Chamber of Commerce board of directors as the chamber's Vice Chairman for 2003-1004, according to Provo and Orem Edward Jones investment representatives repre-sentatives Steve Tolley and Steve Monson. "John brings a wealth of experience and business savvy to this position," said Thomas J. Donohue, Chamber President and CEO. "He will be an integral inte-gral part of spreading the Chamber's pro-business message to our members and partners both here in the United States and oversea. During his term as vice chairman, Bauchmann will work closely with Donohue and new chair man Jeffrey Crowe of Landstar Systems, traveling travel-ing the country and addressing state and local chambers, American Chamber of Commerce abroad and other business leaders. The chamber's priorities pri-orities for the upcoming year include promoting steady economic growth through tax relief, addressing the rising cost of health care and pursu ing medical liability reform, pushing for partnerships part-nerships in the protection of the nation's infrastructure infrastruc-ture and homeland security, securi-ty, among other issues. Bachmann has served on the U.S. Chamber's board since 1995, working on a number of different committees and also served as a regional vice chairman since 2001. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Wabash College, as well as a master's in finance from Northwestern University. Bachmann is also a graduate gradu-ate of the Institute of Investment banking at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, the recipient of an honorary Doctor of Laws from Wabash College and honorary hon-orary Doctor of Arts from the University of Missouri-St. Missouri-St. Louis. He recently received the 2003 Kellogg Award for Distinguished Leadership from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
