He believes that blending historical fact and fiction brings much information to many readers. Intense research and knowledge of the times of the story are necessary, he said. Using artifacts can authenticate authenti-cate the story and define characters. char-acters. He told of spending seven years in writing his first book " Pillar of Fire" and two in completing "Power of Deliverance". "I've read parts of the Bible and the Book of Mormon a thousand times," he told his listeners. He recalled the reading of ancient scripts and messages between early peoples. Authenticity adds both interest and information to a fictional book. A large display of replicas and authentic artifacts was arranged demonstrating some of the information from his books. Dr. Wooley was introduced intro-duced by his editor, Shauna Nelson, w ho described him as a writer with a gift for depicting relationships combined with first place writing skill and a strong testimony, Monta Rae Jepson, president, presi-dent, presided and welcomed the members. His steed, as headless as himself, he flails In feckless flight on terrorific trails. As heedless, as a specter, double-dead, Eternally, in vain, he hunts his head. With hooves, resounding, clippety! clippety! clop! His horse of Halloween can never stop! Like banshees, wailing for impending death, This Headless Horseman howls with every breath. For such exquisite pain, he must re-live, Because his hapless heart cannot forgive. Decapitated, daily, by the blade, His penance is perpetually paid. With hooves, resounding clippety! clippety! clop! His haunted horse can never, never stop! They called him up to carve their wicked slice, And made his head a sorry sacrifice. His innocence did bleed, like blessed' blood, And crimsoned those that damned him with a flood! That fateful day October thirty-first In 1 842, he was' accu rsed ! With hooves, resounding, clippety! clippety! clop! He tries in vain to stanch his speed or stop! Condemned to ride, forever, on his horse, This Headless Horseman crawled a crooked course. His lady, quite bewitching and bejeweled, Was cruel to the kingdom that she ruled. Her lover, she bedazzled and beguiled, Was falsely told, that she had borne his child. With hooves, resounding, clippety! clippety! clop! He tried to claim his most prodigious crop. But, when he sought to bring his child relief, She banished him and branded him a thief! Her guilty guillotine, then, greased its blade, To craft its cut: the cruelest ever made! It also sliced his precious horse's head, Because they saw his master, surely dead! With hooves, resounding, clippety! clippety! clop! The lance he holds is but a witch's mop! The Ghost of Halloween was passing by. That double execution caught her eye. "A fearsome phantom they shall make, of course: That haunting Headless Horseman and his horse!" Evoking wicked words to dare the deed, She resurrected him; also his steed. With hooves, resounding, clippety! clippety! clop! He rode, until he thought that he would drop! The headless man and horse became obscene: The most horrendous howl on Halloween. With bloody bones, they tread the trembling earth, To seek the holy heads they had at birth. Consigned, forever, to that futile search, They are constrained from entering a church! With hooves, resounding, clippety! clippety! clop! Their only food is foul and slimy slop! Today, all Hallow eeners cringe with fear, When Headless Horseman and his horse are near! For hearts are hollow, this October Week, As heroes for this Halloween, we seek. Since few, if any, simple souls are brave, And homeless, headless creatures crave their grave, They clippety! clippety! clippety! clippety! clop! The haunts of Halloween, that never stop!
