And Oscar (Dane Allred) confront each other in LBT's The Odd Couple. "The Odd Couple" kicks off New Year at Little Brown Theatre Neil Simon's award-winning comedy, "The Odd Couple," is the first show of the VIP Arts 2001 Season. Performances begin January 5 and run through February Feb-ruary 12 at the Little Brown Theatre, The-atre, 239 South Main, Springville. January Gallery It's time once again for First Fridays Downtown's Gallery Stroll and a chance to meet some talented artists. The Stroll takes place on Friday, January 5, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Provo Art & Frame features oil painter Bonnie Conrad. The Historic His-toric County Courthouse features an invitational art exhibit for First Night 2001. Provo Center Antiques & Art: TBA. Oil painter Bonnie Conrad says, "I simply love to paint! I am drawn by the myriad possibilities of expression using such elements as color, value, design and direction direc-tion or type of stroke to evoke emotion and mood. I find great freedom and power in a somewhat impressionistic style." Her work focuses the art of the West. Since receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, Miss Conrad has shown throughout the Western United States in places such as Great Falls, Montana; Williston, North Dakota; Cody, Wyoming; San Dimas, California; and ScottsdaJe, Arizona. Bonnie is a Signature Member of the American Academy Acad-emy of Women Artists. Her work will be on display at Provo Art & Frame and she will be on hand to - ; i - : - -i Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, Fri-days, Saturdays, and Mondays. Those who laughed at the antics of Felix and Oscar on the long-running long-running television show will enjoy en-joy the stage production as their favorite characters come to life. Stroll to he held meet the public in connection with the Gallery Stroll. One of the artists featured in the First Night 2901 Invitational Art Exhibit (lower level of the Historic County Courthouse) is Robert Barrett. In addition to being be-ing an accomplished painter, mu-ralist mu-ralist and illustrator, Mr. Barrett is also a professor of illustration in the Department of Visual Arts at Brigham Young University. He received a BFA in painting from the University of Utah and an MA and MFA in painting from the University of Iowa. During his 30 year artistic career, ca-reer, Mr. Barrett has exhibited his works and earned awards and honors at approximately 40 shows across America and in Germany and England. In an 18 year period, he painted approximately 50 commissioned com-missioned portraits, while devoting devot-ing considerable time to creating art for churches, national park facilities, zoos and a variety of other public interest. His latest commissioned project for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints was illustrating the story of President Hinckley's walnut wal-nut tree. Vicki Barrett, Provo Arts Council Coun-cil Fine Arts Chair, says the show in the County Courthouse is "very fun this year." Many mediums and artistic styles are represented; repre-sented; the show has something to offer everyone. Scott Wells, who holds a Master's Degree De-gree in Theatre Arts. He has directed di-rected and performed in Europe, toured nationally with productions produc-tions of "Godspell," and "Man of LaMancha," and performed professionally pro-fessionally with Pioneer Theatre Company in Salt Lake City. VIP's managing artistic director, VV. Bill Brown, Jr., will play slovenly sports writer Oscar Madison. Villa regular Dane Allred, who teaches drama at Payson High School, will play the other half of the mismatched mis-matched duo, ultra-neat Felix Unger. The cast includes four of Oscar and Felix's poker pals: Mark Taggart as Speed, Kevin Macklay as Murray, Niels Adair as Roy, and Ben Wake as Vinnie. Dana Campbell and MinD Jensen appear ap-pear as Gwendolyn and Cecily Pigeon, Pi-geon, the English sisters who date Felix and Oscar. The hilarious plot unfolds as the guys gather for their regular poker night, only to have proceedings proceed-ings interrupted by a distraught Felix, who has just been dumped by his wife. Divorced Oscar offers to share his apartment, setting the stage for plenty of laughs as the two battle over everything imaginable.
