Show August, 2000 ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce Monthly Newsletter Page 7 Utah Valley Leadership Conference at Sundance this fall BY: AMY POOLE PROVO The ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce will hold its Utah Valley Leadership Conference at Sundance's Rehearsal Hall on Wednesday, September 27. Business and civic leaders will address pertinent issues facing fac-ing the local region. Some of the conference topics addressed will be: growth, transportation, Provo Airport, environment, higher education, government, infrastructure, retail development, crime, human resources, technology industry, the arts, health, sports and recreation. Registration is $75 per person for the conference. A continental conti-nental breakfast and delicious lunch, binder, door prizes and a wealth of knowledge are included in the registration fee. Annual Aura of Autumn Fall Lunch and Fashion Show September 8 if BY: AMY POOLE PROVO-The ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce's Women's Division will present "Under Milady's Hat," the annual an-nual fall luncheon and fashion show featuring glamorous fashions fash-ions of the "Hat Era" and entertainment enter-tainment of the 50s, at noon on Friday Sept. 8 at the Provo Marriott Hotel Ballroom. Glamorous fashions and high style from the 40s, 50s, and 60s will be provided by the Valley Center Playhouse and Julie Hansgen's private hat collection. Janie Thompson will be the recipient re-cipient of the "Women Making a Difference" Award this year. Bryan Renstrom will be the Master Mas-ter of Ceremonies and entertainment entertain-ment will be provided by Janie and her brother Bob Thompson, and singers Elaine Sorensen, Carolyn Callister and Kaye Moody from the Deltone Trio. Janie sang professionally for the Ike Carpenter Band in Los Angeles, California. She entertained enter-tained throughout Europe right after World War II with such performers per-formers as Tony Bennett In 1952 Janie bacame the Director of the Brigham Young University Program Pro-gram Bureau which trained talent tal-ent and organized shows including includ-ing the Young Ambassadors and 50 Benefits of Chamber Membership 1 . KsmRMim Gives Away Free Utsh hzz Tickets OREM - KSTAR AM 1400 brings another season cf the Utah Jazz to Utah County by offering of-fering free Jazz tickets to listeners listen-ers during half-time shows. During each game, listeners . are directed to local businesses to enter a drawing for prime Jazz games. All entries in the drawings draw-ings will be then be gathered from local businesses with entry ' boxes at their location. "KSTAR is shooting for a win, win situation by increasing its advertisers' foot traffic and increasing in-creasing the number of listeners for the Jazz broadcast," said Craig Campbell, sales representative represen-tative for KSTAR "KSTAR has the most Jazz listeners in Utah County for the List two years and plans to continue that trend by promoting the broadcast more this year than ever before."
