The chorus is directed by Colleen Col-leen Harris and assistant director, direc-tor, Elaine Bradley. The accompanists accompa-nists are Hortense Robinson and Norma Mitchell. The chorus rehearses re-hearses every Monday, 9 to 11 a.m. The chorus will perform beautiful beau-tiful sacred and spring music. Guest artists is vocal student, Rachael White, who recently was awarded a vocal scholarship. The Women's Council of Provo was organized 80 years ago to inform in-form and educate in the fields of art, literature, music, community affairs and home arts. The concert con-cert is free. All are welcome. Last call for Mrs. Orem The Mrs. Utah America Pageant Pag-eant has issued last call for candidates can-didates to compete for the title of Mrs. Utah America 2000. "There have been a number of inquiries from Orem but as of this date we are still looking for a representative" representa-tive" according to Diane Ritter, director of the Pageant. "There is still time for a contestant to step forward but she will need to act quickly. Completed applications applica-tions are due no later than June 5. 2000. This deadline will still give someone time to prepare for the Pageant " The Mrs, Utah America Pageant Pag-eant will take place June 24, 2000, at the beautiful Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah main campus. The contestants will compete in three categories: Personal Interview, Evening Gown and Swimsuit. Mrs. Utah America will go on to participate in the nationally televised Mrs. America Pageant in September. Bonnie Productions, producers of the Mrs. Arizona, Mrs. Texas and Mrs. Utah American pageants pag-eants have experienced signifi cant success in the pageant industry. indus-try. Mrs. Utah America 1999, Starla Kay Stanley, was crowned Mrs. America 1999 and went on to win the Mrs. World crown in December. The Mrs. America Pageant is the longest running pageant for married women in the country. In 24 years, the purpose of the Mrs. America Program has remained consistent: to celebrate the beauty of America's married women. Mrs. Utah contestants do not necessarily fit any particular mold. They represent an incredible incred-ible variety of backgrounds, lifestyles and personal interests. Contestants in the past have an age range from 21 to 72 years. Many contestants have children; others do not. "They enter to fulfill ful-fill goals" says Ritter "and maybe a few dreams along the way!" Weeks. Jr.. president of the organization. The meeting will be held at 1 :00 p.m. Thursday, May 1 1 in the Conference Room of the Orem Senior Friendship Center, 93 North 400 East. The Provo Browning Society was founded in 1923 by Juliaetta Bateman Jensen, faculty member at Brigham Young University, to celebrate the lives and writings of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, renowned English poets. The Browning Society has -functioned with a sustaining membership in Utah Valley for over 77 years, as a community organization, dedicated to extolling and studying the works of two of the most revered poets of the English language. Over the years, many distinguished and noted scholars and poets have brought their Browning expertise and expressions of appreciation to the Provo Browning Society, reflecting on the lives and works of the two English poets who have been called "the immortal (lovers. This year's meeting of the Provo Browning Society is being held just four days after the 1 88'h anniversary of Robert Browning's birth. It will feature Helen B. Weeks and Clyde E. Weeks, Jr., portraying Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Robert Browning in "The Browning Birthday Dialogue." The poetry of both poets will be woven into their life story, and Mrs. Weeks will sing two of Robert's poems, which have been set to music. All sustaining members of the Provo Browning Society are encouraged to attend this meeting, along with others, who are interested in the Brownings and their notable contributions to poetry. Helen B.
