Lund Attorney for Plaintiff Published in Orem-Geneva Orem-Geneva Times March 10,17,24,31, 1993. Lowest mortgage rate ever offered for lower-income lower-income Utahns Dreams of owning a home can come true for some 400 lower-income Utahns who may participate par-ticipate in the $26 million homeownership bond issue program pro-gram provided by the Utah Housing Hous-ing Finance Aerencv's (UHFA). The UHFA board of directors has approved the release of $26 million of low interest rate mortgages to lower-income Utahns at an unbelievably low 6.25 mortgage interest rate. This is the lowest 30-year fixed interest rate mortgage ever offered by the Agency in its 26 years of service. The Agency will target these funds to first-time homebuyers across the state. Because of population concentrations, most of the activity will occur along the Wasatch front. To qualify for the loans, the income of the prospective prospec-tive homebuyers and the cost of the homes must be below certain limits. These limits vary from county to county across the state depending depend-ing on the size of a household and the location of the-home they want to purchase. For example, a qualifying household with children along the Wasatch front may earn up to $36,000 per year and acquire a home (new or previously pre-viously occupied) that costs up to $87,900. In certain economically distressed areas the limits are even less restrictive. Households with earnings less than $26,000 may be eligible for grants to assist with downpayment and closing costs. The low mortgage rate coupled with the availability of downpayment and closing cost assistance make buying a home more affordable today than ever before. Informative brochures concerning con-cerning these home ownership programs and how to access these funds can be obtained from Utah Housing Finance Agency at 521-6950 521-6950 or long distance callers may dial toll free at 1-800-284-6950.
