New student government elected at UVCC Students at UVCC recently elected student government officers of-ficers for the 1993-'94 academic year, with Stephen Hatch selected as the new president of the Associated Students of UVCC (ASUVCC). Hatch, an international relations rela-tions student from American Fork, is interested in a career in international law or business. As for his new role as ASUVCC president, he expects a lot of student stu-dent support. "We plan on getting lots of support from the students; support is what makes the school's image better," Hatch said. Lisa Mendiola, a broadcast communication student from Mission Texas, was elected academics vice president. Mendiola Men-diola is extremely involved with the international and minority groups at UVCC and with the Utah County Latino Council. Larry Valdez, from San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Calif., was elected activities vice president of ASUVCC. All three candidates came from three different parties, a UVCC first. The newly-elected officers feel that even though they were from different parties, they are ready to act for the good of the students. Mendiola said, "We are ready to work together and be one." All of the elected officers seem to have the same goal-to achieve confidence and unity in the student stu-dent body. "We want the student body to come and talk to us about any problems or issues they may have, and feel that we are on the same level," said Mendiola. The new executive council begin their service on May 1. n SMITH CORONIK AT YOUR TOUCH? 00 'Changeable printwheels Snap-in correcting Full line correct Word Eraser Auto relocate Auto center Auto return Bold print Dual pitch TIPS We want the scoop on what's happening in Orem.
