Lauri Kunz homecoming Sister Lauri Kunz has recently recent-ly returned from the Naga Philippines Philip-pines Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-d Saints. She will report her mission on Monday, June 1, at 11:45 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 80 South 280 East, Orem. Lauri is the daughter of Bob and Janis Kunz of Orem. Jon Jensen receives Eagle Jon Jensen, son of Rex and Pam Jensen, has received the Eagle Award of Scouting. Jon is a member of Troop 189 of the Hillcrest 6th LDS Ward. He has served as senior patrol leader, patrol leader, quartermaster, quarter-master, assistant patrol leader. He also has served as president of his Deacons Quorum, first counselor, coun-selor, second counselor and as secretary. He is now a Teacher in the Priesthood and is always faithful in church attendance. , For his Eagle Project he mowed lawns for the elderly, shoveled snow for ward members, and participated in six other Eagle Projects. In the true Scouting Spirit he did his best with his newspaper route to deliver papers on time, and showed the same spirit with yard jobs, etc. He works hard and fast and has been praised by his employers for the quality of his work. David Shallenberger earns Eagle David Shallenberger, son of Steve and Roxanne Shallenberger., Shallen-berger., has earned the Eagle Rank of Scouting. He is a member of Troop 189 of the Hillcrest 6th LDS Ward. For his Eagle Project he gathered white clothing, cloth, notions, as well as donations for the purchase of Russian versions of the Book ofMormon and Gospel Principles. These items were shipped to Moscow, Russia for a small branch of the LDS Church. The people there had neither the books for gospel study nor the necessary clothing for performing baptisms. David also has participated in distributing campaign literature for the Republican Party. He attended at-tended rallies and participated in numerous service projects, Eagle projects, etc. He has participated in the Timberline Leadership Training for Scouts and the Youth Leadership Leader-ship Conference. He has served as Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Historian and Scribe. Daniel Hemmert earns Eagle Daniel Wynn Hemmert of Troop 189, Squaw Peak District, will receive his Eagle Scout Award Wednesday, May 29, 1991. He is the son of Wynn and Joyce Hemmert Dan was selected as Cub Scout of the Year for Squaw Peak District and National Parks Council. He completed his Timberline Tim-berline training and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. His service project was painting paint-ing the big bleachers at the Orem City Center Ball Park. Dis-trict. LaBelle Boley Barry has taught for 22 years at Hillcrest Elementary, in the same room as she did her student teaching. She is married to Wes Barry and they have four children, John, Jim, Jay and Jill. They also have 22 grandchildren. Mrs. Barry was graduated from Brigham Young University after her children were in school. Her retirement will give her more time to sew (she makes all her own clothes), garden, enjoy music and travel. '1 just plan to enjoy retirement," she says. Terri Hess earns masters degree Terri Lyn Grover Hess has completed requirements for a master of science degree in health, physical education and recreation at Utah State University. Univer-sity. Hess is a graduate of Madison High School in Rexburg, Ida., and has a bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in dance. She is a daughter of Keith and Marvely Grove, Orem, and her husband is Richard Hess, formerly of Ashton, Ida. Hess's masters thesis at USU was entitled, "A Comparison of Nasal, Oronasal and Oral Breathing During a Treadmill Stress Test." She has served as director of the USU Ballroom Dance Team. This award is a prestigious honor as the Academy recognizes less than 10 percent of all American high school students. Alauna, who attends Mountain Moun-tain View High School, was nominated for this National Award by Joel Gardner, mathematics mathe-matics instructor at MVHS. Alauna Marie will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, published pub-lished nationally. The Academy selects USAA Seven to graduate from education program at State Training School Seven students who have been enrolled in the alpine School District Education Program at the Utah State Training School will graduate Friday, May 31. According Ac-cording to Carol Bittner, principal prin-cipal of the program, the seven will receive specia'. certificates of completion which represent advanced ad-vanced levels of achievement for the students. There are at present 68 students enrolled in the Training School's Education Program. The honor comes from the Utah State Classified Employees. Bob has worked for the school district continuously since 1966 and is "still deeply concerned with doing his job properly, efficiently, and without complaint," according accord-ing to fellow workers and is "a caring person with an understanding under-standing heart." Bob worked as a custodian at Central Elementary from 1966 until 1977 when he transferred to Timp Industries. He came to District Dis-trict Maintenance in 1980. JASON FIORILLLO Fiorillo goes to State Jason Fiorillo, from Mountain View High School, recently was selected to represent his school at Engineering State sponsored by Utah State University. Jason, a Junior, received a full scholarship to attend. Engineering State is a program pro-gram for top students from all high schools throughout Utah. It is a through program to introduce students to the many fields in engineering en-gineering and engineering career opportunities. While there, students stu-dents have the opportunity to earn scholarships and cash awards for their performance. Jason was selected to attend for his academic, leadership and math achievements and abilities. Jason is also representing Mountain View High School at Boys' State and was selected from among students throughout Utah to attend the Governor's Academy.
