Show LEGAL NOTICE , LEGAL NOTICE AND NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE OF INTENTION IN-TENTION TO CREATE SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT IMPROVE-MENT LIGHTING DISTRICT NUMBER THIRTEEN (13). Notice is hereby given by the City Council of the City of Orem, Utah of the intention of the City Ci-ty of Orem to create a special improvement district to be known as Special Improvement Lighting District Number Thirteen (13) and to levy special assessments to pay for the same. The purpose and function of Special Improvement Im-provement Lighting District Number Thirteen Thir-teen (13) and assessments assess-ments therefor shall be to maintain, operate, and furnish with electrical energy seventy-six (76) 9,500 lumen sodium vapor street lamps to be operated for a period of ten (10) years beginning on June 1, 1985, and to do all things necessary to complete the project in a workmanlike manner. The District improvements improve-ments are the seventy-six seventy-six sodium vapor street lamps located within or near the public rights-of-way within the District. The plans, specifications, and exact locations of the street lamps are on file at the City of Orem Engineering Office, 955 North 900 West Street, Orem, Utah The general boundaries of Special Improvement Lighting District Number Thirteen Thir-teen (13) are: 400 South Street on the South, Center Street on the north, 800 East Street on the east and State Street on the west. Special Improvement Im-provement Lighting District Number Thirteen Thir-teen (13) does not contain all the property within these boundaries. An exact ex-act description of the District boundaries is appended ap-pended hereto as "Exhibit "Ex-hibit A". A map setting forth in detail the exact location of the im-, provements and the area of land to be affected by the local assessment is on file in the of f ice of the City of Orem Recorder, Room 114, 56 North State : Street, Orem, Utah, and may be inspected by any person desiring further information in regard to Special Improvement" Lighting District Number Thirteen (13) during regular business hours, Monday through Friday. The estimated cost of operation for the ftwelve-month period beginning June 1, 1985 is Twelve Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($12,250.00). It is proposed propos-ed to levy assessments on property in ' the District to pay all of the costs of the improvements im-provements and utility fees. Assessments shall be based on the linear foot frontage of each parcel of property abutting abut-ting upon the public street. Lots and parcels of land within the District which have a linear frontage that is narrower at the front of the lot and which widen to a greater distance toward the rear of the lot or land shall, because of the benefit to the entirety entire-ty of said lot or land, be assessed based on the average width of the property. pro-perty. All property shall be assessed a minimum assessment equal to the amount assessed for the minimum permitted lot width in the zone in which the land is located. For this district, the minimum permitted lot frontage is established at 75 feet. Also, corner lots or land parcels shall be assessed at the linear length of the side of the lot that is the front of the property, which shall be determined by address of the builidng situated on the property. The cessment in ,v: strict shall be wdsed and paid in annual an-nual payments, each payment being assessed according to the total expenses ex-penses incurred during the preceeeding year of operation. All protests and objections ob-jections to improvements improve-ments must be presented to the City of Orem in writing, signed by the owner of the property effected, ef-fected, describing the same by stating the Lot and Block, number of front feet or linear feet affected by said improvements, im-provements, and must be filed with the recorder of the City of Orem at the City of Orem municipal building, Room 114, 56 North State Street, Orem, Utah, on or before 5:00 p.m. April 30, 1985. The City Council will conduct a public hearing in the Council Chambers of the City of Orem municipal build- ing, 56 North State Street, Orem, Utah, on the 30th day of April, 1985, at 7:30 p.m. to hear and consider con-sider such protests and objections as may have been made to said improvements. Lightning struck the Jane Williams' residence, 838 W. 1400 N., Orem, about 4:40 a.m. starting an electrical fire in the kitchen damaging curtains and electrical wiring. It also knocked a hole about the size of a dime in the microwave and burned out the electric range, burned a , telephone and damaged an electrical garage door opener . The lightning bolt entered the home through the roof over the kit- , chen area. Williams said it was dark : and she couldn't see all the damage at first. "If I could have seen it I would have been scared," she said By the time UP&L investigators arrived ar-rived to investigate the blaze iS Williams and her roommate had v doused the blaze.
