Tasso finished first in speaker points at the Novice NDT (National Debate Topic) National held recently recent-ly at Northwestern University, Evanston, 111. He and his partner, freshman Sonya Smith, Cedar City, finished in fourth place against 57 other teams. "We've gone to Novice Nationals before but the best we've done was three years ago when Jerome Romero and Kenny Harvey finished with a 5-3 record," the forensic director di-rector said. "Needless to say, we're delighted with this year's success." Ms. Smith and Tasso, both straight "A" students at SUSC, dropped drop-ped in novice competition to a team from Kentucky. "It was a great round, it could have gone either way," Smith said. 3 Two teams are leaving this week for the Senior NDT Nationals in Knox-ville, Knox-ville, Tenn. Tasso will compete at that contest with Scott Price, Cedar City, along with juniors Mike Chidester, Cedar City, and Vince Meldrum, Orem. In a letter to the college, Pat Ganer, president of the Western Forensic Association, applauded SUSC for it's forensic efforts, saying ". . .It is, of course, a high honor to qualify a team for the NDT and qualifying quali-fying two as Southern Utah State College Col-lege did is more than a double-honor.
