Show Monica Jarvis To Wed Craig Fulton Jan. 22 9? Mr. and Mrs. Tony Jarvis announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Monica to Craig Fulton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Fulton of Orem. The couple will be married on January 22 in the Provo LDS Temple. Monica is a graduate of Provo High and has been locally employed. Craig is a graduate of Orem High and has recently returned from serving an LDS Mission in Kobe, Japan. He is now attending UTC of Provo and plans to finish school at BYU with an electrical engineering degree. On the night of January 22, there will be a reception held in their honor at the Womens Cultural Center in Provo. All friends and family are invited to attend. The bride elect graduated from Orem High School and will graduate from Utah State University in the spring. Her finance graduated from Box Elder High School and Utah State University. The couple will make their first home in Salt Lake City where they will both be employed. 0HS Scholars In TV Com pet Orem High School has made.a new name for itself thanks to the hard work and study of Sean and Kelly Cannon,' William Peterson and Jill Winward. These students recently competed on the "As Schools Match Wits" program aired weekly on KSTU Channel 20. Orem managed to override stiff competition and pull ahead, leaving Bountiful and Alta High Schools dazed. With two consecutive wins, Orem will move on to compete against Granger High's Appear ition top students this week. The program will be aired over Channel 20 Saturday. Advanced Placement classes have been a big help to the Orem squad since most subjects used in the competition are aligned with the AP subjects. Topics include history, literature and English. All Orem participants are now or have been enrolled in AP classes. With the coaching of advisor Martin Monsen the squad is hopeful of winning more competitions. Paul Banni New Chief Memorial Affairs Director DENVER - Paul Bannai, a veteran California Cali-fornia state legislator and, more recently, the executive director of the commission investigating the World War II internment intern-ment of Japanese-Americans, has assumed the duties of Chief Memorial Affairs Director of the Veterans Administration. Appointed by VA Ad-minitrator Ad-minitrator Robert Nimmo, Bannai, 61, heads VA's Department of Memorial Affairs and serves concurrently as director of the National Cemetery System. The system includes the cemeteries as Fort Logan in Denver and Fort Lyon, Colo., and Santa Fe and Fort Bayard, N.M. In this capacity, Bannai is in charge of the operation and maintenance mainte-nance of 105 national cemeteries in 38 states and Puerto Rico and the development of five new cemeteries to meet future needs. Bannai also oversees over-sees the procurement and delivery of headstones and markers for the graves of veterans and dependents in national cemeteries and, on request, the" graves of veterans in private cemeteries. ceme-teries. His department also administers the state cemetery grants program. At present, gravesites are available in 58 ceme-i teries. The expanded system sys-tem will consist of a potential 2.3 million gravesites on 9,000 acres of land. "A Celebration Of Pride" Slated For Kiwanis The Kiwanis Club of Orem Golden K, will celebrate the 67th Anniversary of Kiwanis International and the 42nd Anniversary of the Kiwanis International Foundation with a special "Celebration of Pride" meeting at the Golden Apple, Orem, on January 18, at 6 p.m. The Kiwanis Club of Orem Golden K was founded April 20, 1979. The anniversary program will feature a message, to be read, from E. B. "Mac" McKitrick, President of Kiwanis International. Mayor DeLance Squire will speak on "The Challenge of Community Service in 1982." Keith Stevenson, first president of Orem Golden K, will tell us about the beginning of Kiwanis, and Dave Dewey will speak of Kiwanis Foundation and what Kiwanis means to me.
