Both veteran postal workers have a combination of 28 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. flew Supervisors Named At Orem Post Office Orem Postmaster Clyde E. Weeks today announced the promotion to new supervisory positions two veteran postal employees. William B. Clegg, Supervisor, Mails and Delivery, has been promoted to the post of Superintendent, Postal Operations. He replaces G. Reese Pulham who retired last month. Mr. Clegg has served at the Orem Post Office for 20 years, taking a one-year one-year leave of absence to complete his Bachelor of Science Degree at BYU. He has served as the Delivery Supervisor for the past two years. Kenneth E. Jorgenson, Jorgen-son, city carrier at the West Jordon Post Office, has been promoted to the post of Supervisor, Mails and Delivery, succeeding Mr. Clegg in this position. Mr. Jorgenson is also a former rural carrier and has served as an acting supervisor at the West Jordon Post Office. Performances by two international pianists and a final judging among competition entrants will bring the 5th Annual Summer Sum-mer Piano Festival and Gina Bachauer International Interna-tional Competition to a close Saturday. John Perry, noted artist-teacher, will give a performance tonight at 8:15 in the BYU Harris Fine Arts Center's de-jong de-jong Concert Hall. Jorge Bolet, the Cuban-born American pianist who the New York Times described des-cribed as "America's answer to Lazar Ber-man," Ber-man," will give a recital Friday at 8:15 p.m., also in the de Jong Concert Hall. On the final evening of the festivalcompetition three finalists will perform per-form a complete concerto with orchestra, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall, to determine deter-mine who will win first place with its grand prize of a Steinway grand piano and associated concert appearances. Perry earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Eastman School of Music, studying under Cecile Staub Genhart and Frank Mannheimer. He then continued his studies in Europe as a Fulbright scholar. Among his awards are special honors at the Marguerite Long International Piano Competition Com-petition in Paris and the highest prizes at the Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano, Bol-zano, Italy. Currently Perry is associated with the University of Texas and the Aspen Summer Music Festival. The next evening's artist, Jorge Bolet, is considered con-sidered the romanticist's pianist. His tremendous technique and sensitivity have earned him impressive impres-sive reviews in the United States, Germany, England, En-gland, Austria, France, and Japan. He is well known for his performance perfor-mance of Liszt composition, compo-sition, and his BYU appearance ap-pearance will give area residents a chance to hear some favorites. The three competition finalists will each choose a complete concerto to perform on the final evening even-ing of the festival. Composers Com-posers on the list include Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Gershwin, Liszt, Mozart, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Rach-maninoff, Saint-Saens and Schumann. The winner will be announced after the final performance. This 5th Annual Summer Sum-mer Piano Festival and Gina Bachauer International Inter-national Competition is sponsored by the BYU Departments of Music and Conferences and Workshops.
