Lewis Fillmore Graduates AFB Wichita Falls, Tex. Air Force Reserve (AF RES) Airman Lewis R. Fillmore, son of Mrs. Patsy Z. Fillmore of 473 North 900 West, Orem, Utah, has graduated at Sheppard AFB, Tex., from the U. S. AirForce technical training course for air cargo specialists. Airman Fillmore, now trained in special hand ling and storage fof air freight, is returning to his AFRES unit at Hill AFB, Utah. Completion of the i course earned the individual indivi-dual credits towards an associate in applied science sci-ence degree through the community College of the Air Force. The airman is a 1979 graduate of Orem High School. His father, F. S. Fillmore, resides at 702 West 1450 North, Orem. UTC Student Creates Torch For Olympics A machine shop student at Utah Technical College at Provo and Orem has made an Olympic Torch that will be lighted this month when the National i t vijfiujjiv, ivauciuy tunica Keith Peterson used his machine shop training to make the torch that will be part of the lighting ceremonies at the Olympic Olym-pic Academy in BYU Stadium Sta-dium the evening of June 19th. After completing the torch, which was made from finely crafted aluminum al-uminum with a cloth wick, Mr. Petersonpresentedit to Dr.LeonaHolbrookand Dr. Phyllis Jacobson of the BYU women's Physical Phy-sical Education Department. Depart-ment. The torch's wick runs the length of its hollow hol-low handle which will be filled with kerosene as a fuel for the Olympic flame. The flame will be brought from Denver by plane and then transferred trans-ferred to Peterson's torch in Salt Lake City. It will then be carried to the Opening Ceremonies of the National Olympic Academy by runners who will arrive at the BYU Stadium festivities early ear-ly the evening of June 19th. Keith Peterson is a former BYU student who is in his first year of machine shop training at Utah Technical College. Col-lege. The National Olympic Academy Opening Ceremonies Cere-monies will be open to the public free of charge and will include a National Nation-al Olympic Academy Jogging Jog-ging Event at 5:30 p.m. and continue at 7:30 p.m. with the Olympic Torch Lighting, march of the nations, international dances, prominent speakers, and exhibitions exhibi-tions by former Olympians Olym-pians and Olympic contestants con-testants for the U. S. trials. Utah Livestock: Lambing, Lamb-ing, calving and shearing shear-ing were rapidly drawing to a close, being almost complete. Range and pasture pas-ture conditions were fair to good and spring range improved with the warmer warm-er weather. Ranges were behind normal development develop-ment because of the late spring. Livestock movement move-ment was active with about 80 percent of the sheep and about 60 percent per-cent of the cattle moved to spring ranges. BYU Features Top Brazilian Soccer Cccch One of the top Brazilian Brazil-ian Coaches Clovis Alberto Al-berto de Oliveira from Rio de Janeiro will be featured along with the BYU head Coach Jim Du-sara Du-sara in six action-packed youth Soccer Camps starting star-ting June 18 to August 18, Clovis, 24 - year - old coach, began soccer at in early childhood like many ma-ny other Brazilian's. He participated in Organized Youth teams and before he was 12, he was drafted draft-ed to Pro Junior team, owned by Vasco deGama, the leading first division pro team in Brazil. Clovis Clo-vis played mid-field position po-sition to enable the team to win the Junior League title in Rio. He continued contin-ued playing in Juvenile under 16 years before enrolling in theStateUni-. versity of Rio de Janeiro to major in Physical Education. Having received re-ceived the diploma inPE, Coaching Certificate in Soccer, Clovis was appointed ap-pointed as the head coach of the Rio de Janeiro University Un-iversity UERT 77-78 and also played with the pro team Vasco da Ga- ma, Clovis to-getherwith six other Brazilian coaches came to USA last month on special exchange ex-change soccer program, sponsored by the Partners Part-ners of Americas. Clo-' vis and his partner, Av-antenio Av-antenio da Costa, conducted con-ducted soccer clinics in Utah. Clovis was very impressed by the athlet-and athlet-and expressed his de -sire to come back and study Physical Education Educa-tion Course at BYU in the Fall. According to BYU Coach JimDusara, "Clovis "Clo-vis is very impressive with his soccer techniques, tech-niques, and more important impor-tant he loves and cares for American youths to learn soccer. He had a thrilling, exciting and very rewarding experi ence working with Am-' erican youths in California, Califor-nia, Colorado. Utah and is looking forward to sharing his experiences and ideas with other coaches coa-ches and youths in the BYU Soccer CamDS.' The other coaches of international calibre working in the camp are Vince Hart from Eng - land, now head coach of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Ibrahim Adel, who played on the Jordan National Soccer team and also four years at the South Illinois University Uni-versity at Carbondale. These coaches will be assisted by the BYU Varsity Var-sity players from South and North America on the basis of 10 to 1 to provide pro-vide the campers the finest fi-nest experience of international inter-national soccer. Woman Injured Mrs. Geraldine Wilson sustained injuries when she lost control of the 1978 Yamaha she was driving last Thursday. According to the police report, her brakes locked up, and she was flipped over the handlebars. han-dlebars. Mrs. Wilson was carrying car-rying a dog in her hand at the time of the accident. ac-cident. She was transported to Utah Valley Hospital. The dog, however, was uninjured, said officer Ron Garrett. Mrs. Wilson had been travelling east on 1600 N. when she lost control of the motorcycle. Stolen Bikes A juvenile was arrested ar-rested on three counts of bike theft last week. Two of the three stolen bicycles, recovered in Pleasant Grove, had been taken from Orem residences. The boy was transported transport-ed to the Youth Home. The Pleasant Grove Police Department was contacted contac-ted to pick up the bikes.
