Bishop Michael Alan Bishop, 29 of 1440 S. 240 E., Orem died Thursday, Aug. 31, 1978 of an industrial accident acci-dent at the construction site of the new Payson Hospital He was born March 18, 1949 in Pascoe, Wash, to John Thad and Juanita Gardner Bishop. He married mar-ried Beth Masey Sept. 1971 in Las Vegas, Nev. He served in the Army paratroops para-troops from 1967 to 1970 and was overseas in Germany. Ger-many. He received his education edu-cation at Tujunga, Calif. He graduated from high school in California. He was employed as a construction iron worker. He was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include his wife, three sons and one daughter, Joseph Bishop, Michael Bishop, John Bishop, Bis-hop, Leane Bishop, all of Orem; parents, Salem; grandmother, Temperence Gardner, Orem; two brothers and two sisters, Johnie Lex Bishop, Mrs. John (Ottie Gail) Walter, both of Salem, Steven Wayne Bishop, Orem; and Mrs. Clotilda Laree Santos, Pleasant Grove. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Salem LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Salem City Cemetery. Emma C. Turpin MURRAY -- Funeral services for Emma Louise Carsey Blight Turpin, 81, who died Thursday, Aug. 31, 1978 were held Tuesday Tues-day in the Murray 11th Ward Chapel, 5750 Nena Way. She was the sister of LeRoy Carsey of Orem. Lily M.Wise Lily M. Wise, 97, of Orem, died Monday, Sept. 4, 1978 in the Wasatch County Hospital in Heber. Chauncey L. Palmer Chauncey L. Palmer, 68 of 469 W. Center St., Provo died Monday, Sept. 4, 1978 at Utah Valley Hospital. He was born in Anderson Ander-son County, Kan., on July 14, 1910 to Franklin G. and Anne Mae Ames Palmer. Pal-mer. He married Betty J. Seavey on Feb. 6, 1943 in Cocoa, Fla. Mr. Palmer was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Force. He was a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Palmer worked for Pan American Airways for 20 years, retiring in July 1975. He had been manager of the Uptown Motel in Provo since May of this year. Survivors include his wife; one son and three daughters, Franklin Grant Palmer, Provo; Mrs. Robert (Thirza) Fair, Orem; Mrs. William (Betty) Marsden, Oakdale, Conn.; Mrs. Jeff (Ruth) Dowers, Fayettevil-le, Fayettevil-le, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; one brother and one sister, A. B. Palmer, Burlington, Kan., and Mrs. Jeff (Linnie) Freeman, Emporia, Kan. Funeral services were held Wednesday. Burial will be held in the East Lawn Memorial Hills, where military rites will be accorded. Minor Injury Reported Only minor injuries (no broken bones) resulted result-ed when Officer Boyd Olsen was injured last Friday. Officer Olsen's 38. caliber revolver (not his duty weapon) accidentally accident-ally discharged while he was on duty, it was reported. for YVillard Burton Ballantyne Funeral services Willard Burton Ballantyne, 74, who died Monday, Sept. 4, 1978 at Utah Valley Val-ley Hospital, were held Tuesday in the Orem 20th Ward Chapel. He was born June 29, 1904 in Menan, Ida., to Zechariah and Rachel Burton Bur-ton Ballantyne. He married mar-ried Louise Wilde June 19, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He and his family lived in Park City for 19 years before moving to Orem in 1953. He was active in the Orem LDS 20th Ward, having hav-ing served as secretary of the high priests group for the past 10 years. He also served in two bishoprics, bishop-rics, Sunday School superintendent, super-intendent, stake high council coun-cil and other positions. He retired in 1969 after 16 years as circulation manager of the Salt Lake Tribune in the Provo area. Survivors include his wife, two sons, W. James Ballantyne, Bountiful; VerDon W. Ballentyne, Orem; 12 grandchildren, and one sister, Bertha Olaveson, Idaho Falls, Ida. Furner. During 1978, The Kresge Foundation of Troy James S. Zufelt SPANISH FORK --James --James Sterling Zufelt, 72, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 1978 at the Central Utah Convalescent Center. He was the father of Jim Zufelt of Orem and a former Orem resident. Bringhurst held a press ; conference at his fairgrounds fair-grounds office Thursday : at 2 p.m. to announce what precautions had been and were being taken to insure that no illegal games would operate within the carnival at the Utah State Fair. Carnival Manager John Eichelberger said, "I will not tolerate or condone con-done any known illegal games or public ripp-. ripp-. offs in the Capell'Bros. Show and if any are detected, de-tected, I welcome their arrest and prosecution." Police officials present pre-sent at the conference assured the fair management, manage-ment, the state attorney general's representative and the carnival management manage-ment that they would provide pro-vide surveillance of the. carnival and would take immediate action if they detect any illegal games of chance. "All of us are human," Eichelberger said, "and with more than 30 years in the carnival business, there is still a chance I can be 'hoodwinked' 'hood-winked' by an operator, but I will personnally throw out any operator I catch being dishonest." Police officials explained ex-plained it would not be practical to inspect each game at the oughtset and give a nod of approval or not because game operations opera-tions can be changed. They will provide continuous contin-uous surveillance to insure in-sure that all carnival games are operated honestly and legally.
