Show Thursday, June 19, 1975 Orem Friends Plan July Trek The members of the Orem Friends Club met last Thursday Thurs-day evening at the home of Katharine Marshall. This is the final meeting for the group until September. A discussion of special interest in-terest to members was led by June Jensen, Eva Larson and Velma Fronk. Plans were formulated for-mulated for a summer outing in July; Members are looking forward for-ward to a trip to Fairview with their husbands for an overnight experience. BYU Prof. Appointed To Center Dr. EvanT. Peterson, former chairman of the Department of Sociology at Brigham YoungUni-versity, YoungUni-versity, has been appointed director di-rector of the BYU Survey Research Re-search Center. In his new role, Dr. Peterson will supervise a wide variety of research projects and consult with faculty and students on survey sur-vey research they desire to have conducted. The six-year-old center has been involved in 32 studies totaling total-ing more than a quarter of a million dollars in contract research, re-search, according to Dr. Peterson. Peter-son. The research has been conducted con-ducted under supervision of outgoing director Dr. Robert J. Parsons who has been atthecen-ter atthecen-ter since 1970. He is returning to full-time teaching responsibilities respon-sibilities in the Department of Economics at BYU. Dr. Peterson received his bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and his doctorate from the University of Michigan. He has served as associate director of the U.S. Public Health Research Re-search Project at Mississippi State University, associate research re-search professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Utah, and sociological consultant for Engineering Corporation of America. Dr. Peterson joined the BYU faculty in 1959. He is listed in "Who's Who in America."
