This year the meet was divided into "A and "B classifications, with Orem winning both catergories over seven other contenders of the valley. A great deal of credit for this very successful season Is not only credited to the many hours of hard work by the team mo.-nb.5rs, but to the very able and devoted adult leadership provided pro-vided by Cynthia H rst and Mike Baxter. The Consolation Winners in the Slow-Pitch Game were the BYU team who defeated the Orem 26th Ward in a close 12-10 game. In the City Fast-Pitch Championship Champ-ionship Game, Vineyard went after their opponents, Orem 35th Ward, and forged final score of 12-7. The Consolation Winners for the Fast-Pitch Play, Orem 8th Ward played the tightest scoring game all night to beat the Provo 20th Ward with a 17-16 cincher. Utah Weather Crops Summary A few scattered showers and thunderstorms were reported from many sections of the State during the past week but the accumulated moisture was generally gen-erally light in amount. A few isolated stations in the southeast section recorded heavy percipi-tation percipi-tation but soil mositure on range and nonirrigated croplands continues con-tinues very short in the south-short south-short to very short in the north. Temperatures averaged near normal except 2 to 4 degrees below along the Wasatch Front. Soil temperatures at the 4" depth again ranged from the upper 70's in Cache Valley to near 80 in Salt Lake City and Richfield and the mid-90's in Utah's Dixie Range feed poor to fair in the southfair in the north. Small grain harvest has started in the lower elevations ele-vations with dryland winter wheat about one-fifth done, irrigated winter wheat just started, spring wheat and barley about 5 percent, and oats barely started. OTHER CROPS Alfalfa seed prosepects in Millard County look good. Bean growers in San Juan County are hoeing and cultivating their bean crop.
