Bell Assigns New Prefix In Orem Mountain Bell directory assistance assis-tance operators are giving out telephone numbers for Orem residents that may sound strange to Utah County residents, according to District Manager Merrill Hymas. Hvmas said a new prefix, 224- in addition to the eld 225- prefix, has been assigned to new numbers in Orem. Many customers are confused when the operator gives them a 224- prefix for a new listing In Orem. People are so used to the old 225- number, they think the operator has made a mistake. Many dial 225- anyway and get a wrong number or recording. Then they call directory assistance again,' Hymas said. He explained that the new prefix pre-fix number 224- has been assigned to Orem because of new call switching equipment installed in-stalled in the telephone office. Growth in the area outdistanced the equipment associated with the 225- prefix, so new equipment, carrying the 224- prefix was instaUed to serve new residents requesting telephone service.
