The winning team is shown above and will go into the state Little League tournament play-offs next week, August 7, 8, 9, and 10. Swimmers Defeat Provo Orem swimmers defeated the Provo team 906 to 746 to win the Utah Valley Division Playoff Saturday, July 29, in an exciting meet between the Northern and Southern Division Champions. Orem's SCERA Barracuda high point winners were Julie Baxter, Jan Cryer, Charles Cranney, Nancy Hansen, Susan Jaussi, Jenilyn Hills and Brad Pendelton, Pendel-ton, each taking two firsts in individual races. Other first place winners were Fawn Boren, Mondi Merrill, Dean Hansen, Kerry Vehar and Kelly Ander- berg in the 8 and Under age group; Bruce Pendelton, Laura Roller and Paul Larsen in the 9 and 10 category; Lori Nichols, Roger Merrill and Drue Park in the 11 and 12 category; Marie Pedroza, Bryan Pendelton and Dal Hills in the 13 and 14 group; and Darrek Muse in the 15-17 category. Two second places each were won by Kip Olsen, Mat Taylor and Bret Tobler. Other second place winners win-ners were Laurel Willis, Lukie Cryer, KeUy Clements, Dean Hansen, Robert Hirst, Dal Hills, Kerry Vehar, Lisa Grenhalgh, Bruce Pendelton, Paul Hirst, Michael Penrod, Laurie Nicol, Jane Gilbert, Marie Pedroza, Kim Brown, Eugene Rhoais, Chris Park and Meg Clark. Elk Permit Deadline Set Elk hunters have an August 9 deadline to buy open area bull elk permits or apply for restricted restrict-ed area drawing permits. Open bull elk permits will be sold to holders of 1972 big game licenses from August 2 through 5 p.m. August 9. Permits may be purchased in person from Wildlife Wild-life Resources offices in Provo, Ogden, Salt Lake, Price, Vernal and Cedar City. As shown on th map Orem is divided into eight teams and the coaches of each area are given. Any boy interested in playing football should sign up wita his coach immo liately. Each team is allowed only 30 players and after the roster is fiHed no more boys will be permitted to participate. Each boy is required to pay a $25.00 registration fee and all boys are encouraged to have insurance in-surance to cover them while playing football. If the boy does not have insurance he will be required re-quired to have his parents sign a release in the event of an injury. Insurance is available with th-3 Junior League Footballprogram. August 5 is the beginning of 10 days of physical training, after which the beys will be issued uni forms. All coaches are instructed concerning con-cerning the program and any questions the boys or parents may have should be taken upwith them. Jaycee President Ed Warner has organized his fellow Jaycees to aid the program to make this season bigger and better thanlast season.
